We hear booing and we are in our bubble here on RealGM. But what we hear from the people with authority is that Randle is worthy of a big contract and is our starting QB. So try to see outside our little think tank here. It's possible that most of the Knicks' efforts will still be to surround Randle with talent and do what it takes to get there.

I think it's pretty naive to think otherwise really. I'm hoping against hope though.

Not buying that. Dolan has been maligned by Knicks fans too, and has taken issue with it. He is a realist I believe but also may think Knicks fans are "in the wrong" on this.

I think maybe you're whistling past the graveyard somewhat. Dolan just approved a big contact for Julius.

Assuming Julius is at an end seems very premature. Just keeping it real. And if anything, RJ's trade value is going up.

Not trying to just be controversial, but a trade that surrounds Randle with pieces is possible. Think about it realistically.

Straight up I think the opinion on this board is at a high level. This is not Reddit (Zing). But at the same time, you have to realize that just because RJ looks good to you and Randle doesn't doesn't mean Leon Rose is looking at it and seeing the same thing. Same team that dumped Lin after an exciting run (granted he turned out to be nada, so I was wrong) ... and gave JR Smith and Felton contracts. Even with Lin sucking, that is still unbelievable to me.

I half expect a deal of RJ and Grimes for like Turner, with Thibs explaining how RJ was getting into the wrong passing patterns and confusing Randle.

Just don't be shocked if we do something dumb. It always seems like the fans are thinking one way and the front office is thinking another. Yep I'm still going to bring up letting Lin go. Lin turned out to be nothing special, and that could be the case with RJ, but you really don't know if they're seeing the same things we see.

RJ looking like he has some game, but so did Obi for a few games and the coach clearly doesn't like him. Yes it's different but only by a matter of degrees.

We're all writing Randle's Knick obit, but it is POSSIBLE the front office is thinking -- how do we get Randle back to that level? We need help and we need to shed the young guys. Think about it -- that's 100% why we got Fournier right?

So how do you know Obi, RJ and others like Grimes won't be used as trade bait. Don't get your little Knicks heart broken.

So yeah, not counting those chickens at all. RJ is really good I think, but I don't know, but I feel very confident Randle is not the one. But does that mean the front office agrees and will not make a trade to "go for it" with Randle? Hell no it doesn't mean that.

I think it make Obi a much more likely trade target. It’s Knickonian logic, but if Obi isn’t here the fans won’t have a reason to get as mad as Randle (and Thibs) because there isn’t a team favorite player, stuck behind a struggling star. I don’t see them trading either unless for a first option.

I also think they see Randle as a second option, and RJ and a third. What they paid Randle reflects what is expected of Randle.
