A 1st? For Williams? Seems like an overpay. And I highly doubt OKC is interested in more short term picks. We've seen it in recent years, and with OKC last year, where having too many 1sts ends up working against you.

It would make some sense for Atl to make it with just returning the OKC 1st back to OKC. It’s in its last year of lotto protection, and will become 2024/2025 2nds if not conveyed this year. It’s not far off then, with Solo out for the year. A little salary dump, a little useful player, all for essentially 2 2nds.

I like where your head is at, but I think Harris being attached to Simmons is because Morey is realizing he can't get Beal or Dame via trade. If he could he'd just do Simmons+ for Beal and both teams are likely happier. I think he is trying to clear enough cap space to go after Harden this offseason in free agency. Your trade brings him his star he'll have to extend so cap space doesn't matter again. I wonder if Philly would prefer your package over Harris though? I'm not sure Washington would want the extra Harris years though I could certainly be wrong on that. All in all way to put a twist on an otherwise overdone deal on this board ha!
Thanks!

I assume you're right that Morey wants James Harden in Philly badly and at least partly Harden wants to go there too. However with Harden not signing an extension early it maybe more difficult if he plans to opt out this summer.

Does Harden care about being able to sign a 4 year deal vs a 5 year deal?

He could opt-in this off-season and then be traded (similar to CP3 leaving LAC for HOU a few years back) & Philly wouldn't be concerned with the tax apron next season.

Would the GMs dare trade right now?

I think trading James Harden right now with Joe Harris would allow Brooklyn to take back Tobias Harris & Simmons.

It's sticky for Brooklyn because they could lose Harden & Irving this off-season so they need to be able to make sure they have good pieces around KD going forward. Will free agency give better returns?

(If the Harris' both take the other's former number after that trade above both franchises could save on inventory too LoL)

Yeah that feels pretty solid. Though I think I like Kenrich as sweetener in something bigger, even though I think that is roughly his value. Others haven't been as interested in moving him. I'd really like to use him in a Reddish package or something like Nesmith, Hernan for Kenrich. But I still believe in Nesmith's shooting ability along with his size.

Have OKC take Lou Will 9he'd have to agree to the trade) as well to help Atlanta clear some space under the Tax

I mean Lou+OKC fake 1st for space and a heavily protected 2nd is reasonable. Lou would just get cut and could go where he wanted.

Any Boston/Philly fans want to comment on my Utah version of a Simmons/Brown swap. I haven't added any picks to balance, but I was hoping it wasn't more than a protected 1st off in any direction.

PHI In: Brown/Conley
PHI Out: Simmons/Curry/Thybulle

BOS In: Simmons/Curry/Utah Minimum
BOS Out: Brown/Smart/Schroder

Utah In: Smart/Schroder/Thybulle
Utah Out: Conley/minimum
I bought a boat.

Question for the CBA experts, I tried a quick search to no avail. Do two-way guys build up bird rights?

Is it actually possible for Philly to get enough cap space to outright sign harden? Seems like a stretch but it's the only reason I could see morey even entertaining diluting Simmons value to get off Harris

I don't think there is a possible way he can clear capspace to go for Harden and I also think that isn't Morey's style.

I think the reason he is trading Harris is to only clear a bit of salary in offseason (maybe 15m) so that he can do a SnT for Harden in offseason and stay under the hardcap. As an SnT for any player in offseason will hardcap Philly.

Philly owes value. I think Boston get the short end of the stick here

32. How long must a player be with one team before the Larry Bird exception can be used?

Bird rights accrue for a player signed to a Two-Way contract (see question number 82) the same as for a player signed to a standard NBA contract.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Simmons+Harris to the Rockets for Wall+Wood+AllTheBrooklynPicks(2023+)

I think that would be interesting for Morey in a negotiation to pick off a piece in the offseason from the Nets if they fail this season.

Houston explicitly chose all the Brooklyn picks over Simmons+ so why would they trade them all for just Simmons, a Wall for Harris swap (which is not helpful for a bad team) and throw in wood?

They wanted to tank last season and were successful, they can tank this season too.
They also thought Oladipo and Wall would pan out differently.
They don't have to move the Bucks pick they got from Cavs for Allen in this trade
Rockets also keep 22 FRP from Brooklyn

They effectively get to have their cake and eat it too. It's a far better deal.

I just looked at his stats and he is better than at least one SG that has three years of NBA service and joined the league as a first round pick in the same year that Coffey did as a Two Way.

What is a fair salary for Coffey and do the Clippers love him enough to match an Offer Sheet with a salary in that area of a fair salary?

Do the Clippers have any positive value players outside of Kawhi, George and Mann?

From a pure basketball fan perspective, if Morey really does stand his ground and no Simmons trade happens I would be very bummed to see a prime Embiid year, where he's been incredible, gone to waste

Anybody buying this? One the one hand, PG does have a history of upper body issues keeping him out. On the other, it's Fischer, and the article talks about "taking a step back" in a "gap year" without acknowledging that OKC has their unprotected 1st.
