I find it hard to root for the Grizzlies no matter how much of a feel good story they are, for the amount of smack they talk while playing in fly over country. I thought it was just Dillon Brooks but the entire team has a diarrhea of the mouth.

It feels like the Lakers have played the Kings or Grizzlies in every game for the past month.

LeBron's career scoring average is back over 27 ppg after dropping below after. He's now 5th all time, just ahead of Jerry West and a little bit behind KD and Baylor.

On the scoring record:

There's a non-zero chance he does it in this calendar year.

Lakers have 41 games left. If he plays 39 and averages 29 ppg over them (pretty reasonable given his play so far), he'll end the season with 37,336 points, leaving him 1051 behind Kareem.

Lakers played 37 games before the new year this season. If they do that again and he plays them all, he'll need to average 28 points to reach out the record before the calendar turns.

If he plays all remaining 41 games and averages 31 over them, then he'll only need 24 ppg in the next season to get it before 2023.

Entirely possible he gets the record on Christmas or on his birthday.

**** the record yo, I want 40k points. Nothing less than a juicy round 40k would satisfy me.

No but fr he more than any player in NBA history has an incredibly high chance of breaking 40k, if he doesn't and ONLY ends up #1 I'd be kinda upset haha.

same. i want the 40 10 and 10, though he can probably get to 40, 11 and 11 - then he can retire.

I think we'd all like 40-10-10, but I'd absolutely love it if he broke the record on his birthday in December tbh. That'd be such a cool moment.

LeBron at the 5 against bench lineups should be pretty good.

40 more GP this season at 25.0 PPG puts him at 37,205. and then another two seasons (with 70 GP each) 2600 at 20.0 PPG is another 2800. which is 40,005 total.

and those are low PPG estimates. barring disaster he's in great shape to get it so yeah i'd be disappointed if he doesnt because it probably means injuries or 'early' retirement

I don't ever recall hearing anything about Duncan calling LeBron the best player in the world back in 2007, but here it is at the 14:22 mark.

I think he was saying that Lebron had the potential to be the best player in the world in 07, not that he already was.

Is Tobias + Danny Green for Westbrook a palatable trade? Maybe bring on OKC as a third team to welcome home WB and take some assets. This gets the Sixers out of Tobias' contract a year earlier and gives us the bigger wings to complement small ball line ups without losing size and rebounding.

We can turn around and move THT + Nunn + DeAndre/Baze for a PG as LeBron doesn't look to have any appetite for playing there full time.

Did Morey get drunk and agree to this deal?

My bad, 13:22. It’s pretty clear he’s not saying anything about potential.

Washington Wizards players Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell had to be separated at halftime of Tuesday's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder after a physical confrontation. Harrell was reportedly upset that Caldwell-Pope didn't pass him the ball at the end of the first half. After words were exchanged, both players threw punches that did not connect. Teammates and security personnel then physically separated the two players.

Both Caldwell-Pope and Harrell played their regular number of minutes in the second half of the game.

The Wizards acquired both players from the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, in the deal that saw Russell Westbrook sent to LA.
Caldwell-Pope has been a starter all season, while Harrell has been Washington's key frontcourt reserve

Lol of course even the punches missed
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

Problem with Westbrook trade suggestions is no one wants to throw in any useful pieces to make it work for the other team. Imo if it takes any 2 of THT, Monk or Nunn you consider it. If you don't get Westbrook off those pieces are worthless this year anyway unless you're ready to concede the season and wait till offseason to fix it.

Westbrook himself isn't what teams want, there has to be another centerpiece. Should the Lakers consider Wall? What if Rockets FO rate THT and you can get them to give up Wood? I don't know their individual contract situations but what if? If not the overarching point is be ready to give up something of value.

Part of me wonders if a straight up Westbrook for Simmons swap for LA would make sense if the Westbrook thing really starts to sour the locker room. Can't imagine they'd get rid of him for purely basketball reasons at this point but maybe if he starts to cause rifts.

Neither can shoot, but at least Simmons isn't a turnover machine and can theoretically play good defense. I say theoretically because we haven't seen him play in 7+ months now and he'd be going to a completely different system/situation.

Zero chance Philly takes Westbrook though, I don't think any team acting rationally would. You'd have to find a really dumb GM who only cares about box scores and is desperate to keep his job.
