One trade that would make a ton of sense to duck the tax and get better is Juancho and a couple of 2nds for Kenrich Williams

Denver could use a reliable scorer off the bench and a guy who can score until Murray returns.

SChroder works there, imo.

Schroder for Green
Green for Smith

I dont hate a lineup of Smart/Brown/Tatum/Smith/Timelord

Dont love it and still prefer Tatum at PF with a shooter at sg/sf, but at least its better than Horford starting there.

I dont think many teams will offer more than the 4.7 million he could get re-signing with us, and perhaps a 2 year deal, loaded with incentives at 4.7 mill gives him the opportunity to prove himself and get resigned by us for more.

At the cost of Schroder it is more than worth it.

Should they re-sign him? No. Absolutely not. Will they? Absolutely. If he was available they’d be making the rounds now - he’s not. He won’t be. Only chance is via a sign and trade in the summer.

As far as horford deals proposed here I’m pretty sure shams said he’s one of the guys we don’t wanna trade.

The owner there reminds me of Jeremy Jacobs in that regard. I'm sure Beal might force something but the only thing the Celtics have going for them there is Tatum. In my opinion Tatum is just as likely willing to go to DC as Beal is to Boston. I don't think it will happen until Beal gets traded to a place like LA or Miami and Tatum ends up following. Boston doesn't have the cap space and doesn't have the assets to outbid anyone really. Which is why Fox or Simmons is more realistic but still not likely at this point.

Why would the Suns give up Jalen Smith for Schroder? The have CP3 with Payne, Payton and Shamut as backups. And why would Denver want him? They've got Murray and Morris, with Hyland, Campazzo and Rivers as backups.

Jalen Smith and Bones Hyland are interesting young players I'd love to see on the Celtics, but you aren't going to get either one with Schroder.

What are your thoughts on this deal?

https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7511757

Boston: Al Horford and Jaylen Brown for Ben Simmons and Joe Harris (the Celtics get a playmaker and a shooter to support Jayson)

Brooklyn: Joe Harris and Jevon Carter for Al Horford and Danny Green (the Nets get tough veterans who can defend and provide spacing for the Big 3)

Philadelphia: Ben Simmons and Danny Green for Jaylen Brown and Jevon Carter (the Sixers get an All-Star wing to complement Joel, and slide under the luxury tax)

We can quibble about picks to balance value, but what do you think of the framework?

I don't mind the trade at face value but it would be also imperative the C's trade Smart as well. We simply can't have Simmons, Smart & Rob Williams in the same starting lineup. We'd need to move him for another shooter.

Can see a Jeff Green for Schroder trade, with Big Al moving to backup center and Ime starting Jeff Green.

Schroder's better than the backup guards Denver has...

Jeff Green for Schroder makes sense for the Celtics, but I don't see it for the Nuggets.
And Jalen Smith would just be a rental, right? Didn't the Suns decline his rookie option? If so, he'd be just like Schroder-- gone at the end of the year because you couldn't pay him enough.

KCP and Harrell came to blows at halftime the other night. There could be a trade opportunity there. With Thomas Bryant coming back, Harrell or KCP may be available for less than market value.

With both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard possibly out all season, the Clippers may be open to trading guys like Marcus Morris, Luke Kennard and Reggie Jackson.

There are all sorts of trades proposed here but what do people REALLY want the C's to accomplish before the deadline?

I don't think there's a deal that will change our ceiling this year so I'm mostly hoping:

-Clear out 1-2 veterans to create playing time for the kids (Dennis, Freedom, maybe Al, maybe Josh) OR
-Cut bait on kids if we're not going to develop them
-Add a rotation piece for next year (a Jalen Smith might fit here).

That's it for me.

I hope Grant Williams is dealt mostly. I’d prefer any backup PF over him. He smiles too much and is way too nice and chatty with opponents.

He's also one of two role players on this team that can hit threes so I'm gonna pass on that

No they don't. There's a reason he played on six different teams in his 10 year career.

Fans might like the swagger he brings, but he is an incredible selfish player and weak defender.

Personally i still dislike his public statements durings Haywards recovery, he is one reason we don't have Gordon anymore. And while Gordon Hayward never lived up to his contract here in Boston he is and was always a team oriented player who empowers players arround him rather than be selfish.
