Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Reminder for those in the Milwaukee area, Hayat pharmacy on Layton is testing 24/7. From what I was told you get the rapid test and a PCR for $60, I don't believe they take insurance for this so you'd have to pay.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I was tested on Friday morning at a local pharmacy and got my results yesterday morning. You'll have your results soon.LittleRooster wrote:Tested positive using an at home test on Saturday. I tested negative on 2 at-home tests and a rapid test off Gammon Rd in Madison. Did the lab test yesterday and awaiting results.
Boy am i getting my ass kicked. Fever of 100-102, chills, congestion, cough, sore throat and the most fun symptoms yet, severe back pain.

Did you have the PCR done at a pharamacy or testing site or somewhere else?
Went to a place called Holistic Home Health, which partners with Fulgent (same agency Hyatt uses). Was a drive thru one where I did the test myself.
Thankful I’m vaccinated and boosted, cause it’s been mild for me. Though I kind of gaslight myself wondering if I even had Covid lol

I find the problem with the home tests is digging that damn swab up my own nose. I have no issues when someone else does it, but some sort of mental block about shoving that damn thing deep in my own nose.

The home tests I’ve taken (BinaxNow) don’t require you to really go deep. The rapid tests are inherently less accurate than PCR, and maybe that’s one of many reasons, but the instructions say something to the effect of .5-.75 inches deep, which should still be your “standard” nostril (what a sentence that is).

I've seen the illustrations and heard about people feeling like the swab touched their brain so when I went in to get tested I was expecting something profoundly unpleasant.ReginaldDwight wrote:jschligs wrote:I tested negative on 2 at-home tests and a rapid test off Gammon Rd in Madison. Once they were done, it had been so simple that I was somewhat concerned that he didn't shove the swab deep enough into my head.

Israel Heath Ministry recommends also swabbing the back of your throat to increase sensitivity but the FDA still recommends just the nose. I'd follow the FDA guidelines until anything new is advised.

For the PCR tests, I believe the swab technically goes further horizontally into your head, almost into your mouth, than it does go vertically up toward your brain. At least that's what a nurse once told me
EDIT: That kind of makes sense based on what crkone posted above.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Day 4 of COVID like symptoms. I've gone from death to just better than death today. The fact the results take this long is absurd. My wife has had to take PTO to take my daughter out of daycare and watch her. Technically they could've still sent my daughter, but I'm not going to be the family that sends a potentially exposed 1 year old to a group of 8 kids and teachers. Fingers crossed for results today as all the at-homes and the rapid tests were negative.

I have symptoms and went to Hayat this morning. It was busy but they have a huge parking lot and it was pretty well organized. Took me about 20 minutes. Right now they are offering PCR only and it's free. You can register on their site and save some time, you'll get a QR code you show them to scan rather than having to fill out a form in your car
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The long nostril crowd really driving up the false negative rate.

Yea, my mom has everything you're describing and tested negative twice. Just a very nasty flu.

My wife just tested positive with the exact same symptoms, including the back pain.

Results back in, positive. Coworker who exposed me (likely gave it to me but not officially) said "where do you think you got it from"....you, you idiot. You came to work exposed with symptoms and didn't tell us.
Oh well, I pray my daughter doesn't get it.

What an idiot.

My symptoms are more cold-like and that's probably what I have. Runny nose, small cough, congestion. But since tests are free why take a chance.
