I guess the point is, I like this move more if we have another one lined up to clear out some of the glut at wing. Consolidate into one good player instead of 3 or 4 mediocre to bad players

If we're just doing this, it's a solid buy low-ish move, but kinda questionable given he doesn't really have a spot right now.

I think you missed Scott Perry's latest PowerPoint presentation.

He explained very clearly that 4 mediocre players = 2 good players. Pretty compelling stuff.

Essentially the Knicks traded the 19th pick in the 2021 NBA draft for 1.5 years of rookie control Cam Reddish and his RFA bird rights.

NY gets a year and a half of Reddish in their system to determine if he's worth a long term investment. Worst case scenario you missed on the 19th pick in the 2021 draft. Best case scenario, Reddish develops into a versatile 3 and D wing.

Solid risk/reward IMO.

theres no risk cuz those 1st rounders burn a hole in the knicks pocket and that particular 1st wasnt really valuable with its protections in the first place

If they want Cam to get minutes, somebody's gonna have to play less or get traded.

Maybe it's Obi. Maybe it's Grimes. Maybe it's Fournier. Maybe it's IQ. Someone's gonna lose.

The most far-fetched scenario is they're thinking of selling high on RJ, but that seems unlikely.

There will be more moves. I don’t think they do this unless they’re lining up other deals

to me, this move also signifies the FO belief in RJ. kinda like handing him the keys. he's been more of a focal point on offense lately w/ the regression of Julius and not just spotting up in the corner
