That’s a steal IMO by the Knicks. What are the Hawks thinking on downgrading for this season?

Solid trade for the Knicks! Not really sure the Hawks motivation here... guess they just gave up on Reddish... or maybe they're trying to collect firsts for another trade (Simmons)?

Really wanted the Raptors to pull the trigger on this. I don’t know how much longer I can watch Svi “play” basketball

I am sure the Hawks tried to get a better 1st; but at least they got one. Reddish will get a good shot in New York; but reality is Hunter is the clear future and the Hawks did not want to spend a lot to keep Reddish. They are already paying Bogdanovic and Huerter.

I'm usually not a big believer in the "this is a move for a future move" theories, but it could be with this one considering how much talk there is in the Hawks being a serious contender for Simmons. Could be that the Sixers weren't fans of Reddish and value cap space and picks more if they move Simmons to Atlanta. This trade would fit that bill to get the Hawks where they may need to be to pull of a Simmons deal (especially if they need to take Harris as well).

That could be something. I’d think Reddish has more value than that lottery protected FRP, but I guess salary has to also be considered. Was hoping the Bulls could’ve pulled off this trade for Reddish with the POR lottery protected FRP.

They probably did not want to pay him when his contract expires. Better to get something for him now then let him walk for nothing.

Let's wait and see what fully transpires... this feels like a deal... to make a deal.
That's fair. I think Gallo may be next, because I read an article saying they wanna fetch a first for him too.

Great trade for the Knicks. Sixers failed at bringing this guy home.

Yeah, if the reports are accurate, the Sixers last option to get a Top 30 guy might be through FA (Harden), in which case they need a ton of cap space. Reddish doesn't help with that and he's not such a high-end prospect that he would be a great catch in Philly's mind for what their current goals are.

But we'll see. Most likely this deal just is what it is and not a precursor to something else.

Reddish is legitimately one of the worst players in the NBA. It's amazing that the Hawks were able to get literally anything for him.
