This give RJ another strong ally in the locker room and makes it more his team than Julius.

Sorry Julius. This is what happens when you make Dolan angry.

The Knicks reunited Duke teammates Cam Reddish and R.J. Barrett, so NBA fans want Zion Williamson to join them

Don’t listen to these stupid dudes. It’s not a given Obi going anywhere. He still has major allies in the front office, even if Thibs be doing him dirty.

I would not be surprised if Randle is traded. Leon tryna fix some of his mistakes. Obi ain’t one of them.

yes I don't feel there is an untouchable on the roster. RJ is probably the closest thing.

I have to believe a follow up move or a 2 for 1 move has to be in the works because the minutes don't add up. Unless we are taking Grimes out of the rotation (which I hope isn't the case).

I wouldn't worry too much about minutes. This isn't the final form. Right now we're trading lesser assets for better ones by taking identifying places of need for opposing teams. As I keep saying, we just put Atlanta under the lux tax with this move. They wouldn't have done it otherwise.

My guess is we continue to consolidate and you can't worry too much if that takes two months or two years. Gotta pounce on the right moves. But my gut says we will move sooner rather than later with this move.

Agreed Reddish is the better asset. But you also have to factor in we are acquiring the better asset but also have to potentially pay that asset sooner.

Ultimately that is why the Hawks did the trade. They probably didn't think they were getting the better value, they are just getting longer term value since the 1st round pick doesn't have to be paid right now...basically kicking the can down the road for potential deals.

That Net 2025 pick could be pretty good.

I like it from a value point of view. But this guy reminds me of a wing version of Tim Thomas. I don't see a passion for the game but yeah he is also can be compared to a more talented version of Knox. Interesting move to say the least.

As I said to MP, I don't think anyone is safe in the right deal. If Obi is out, we'll probably like the return.

Let's not forget Mills and Perry were seen having a meeting with Cam just days before the 2019 draft, even though it was clear they weren't gonna draft him at #3. Wouldn't be surprised if this were a Perry move.

RJ was the leader of the Duke team - maybe having a familiar face in the locker room will help Cam develop. But he's still very raw, and fits Scott Perry's template of inefficient players.

It's interesting they traded a first for him.

Not sure how I feel about this deal, but I can't help but feel this is not an isolated move.

Which first was this ultimately? The Mavs 2021, right? Where the Knicks traded it into the future for the heavily protected Charlotte pick, which probably wouldn't covey in 2022 but might have in 2023? Or even turned into a 2nd rounder.

Add another branch to the successful KP trade tree.

Already figured it out

Obi to Indy for Turner

Randle to Sacramento for Fox

Get it done Leon.

Have to think they wanted the extra pick for a Ben trade. If that's what they do with it, then I like this deal for Atlanta as well. All comes down to how they use that Charlotte pick.
