Isn’t there some deal with Beasley, drunk driving or conduct or something? I’ll google - I remember him being suspended

Yeah, from his Wikipedia page:

On September 27, 2020, Beasley was arrested for marijuana possession, concealing stolen property, and for an incident in which he brandished a firearm.[24] He was initially released from law enforcement custody but later faced charges in Hennepin County stemming from the incident.[25] Beasley pled guilty to the felony charge of making a threat of violence in December 2020 and was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail, with confinement occurring after the conclusion of the 2020–21 NBA season.[26] Beasley served 78 days of the 120-day sentence and was released in August 2021.[4]

Well, it values Collins as the best player in the deal, or the most valuable (age, contract), which I agree with. But Detroit doesn’t want Smart.. I’d take out Pritchard or the 1st on our end.. Romeo an option, too.

Romeo >> PP

Keep in mind that Boston gets Wright, who is a decent backup pg.

Horford, nesmith and Boston 1st, 2 Laker seconds 2nds, 1 laker 1st to Houston (Wood and Theis, Augustine out)

Schroder, Porzingas to Lakers (Westbrook and Picks(1-1st, 2-2nds out)

Westbrook, Wood and Augustine to Dallas (THjr, Brunson, KP out)

Brunson, THjr, Theis to Boston (Horford, Schroder, 1st)

Lakers improve now, save salary for offseason
Dallas improves short term, but loads capspace availability for the summer of Jokic
Houston sheds salary, adds youth and loads of picks
Boston adds a point, a backup center and a shooter off the bench.

Am pretty sure that Brunson's a 2022 UFA. Am not dealing a FRP for a few months of Brunson.

It would surprise me very much if Client Capela was deemed untouchable by the Hawks FO.

Eh, Clint's their second most important player if they're not going to go young.

Hawks ended the rebuild a year too soon, loading up on Bogdan/Gallo.. one more high draft pick, then a couple of mid-priced vets into the empty cap was the best play.

Grant is the best player in the deal, and if any team wanted Smart, it would be Atlanta, to shore up their defense. But as I've said before, Smart is an acquired taste and I can't see a non-contender being interested in him at all.

Again, we are just rearranging deck chairs here. I don't think any of these deals materially improves the Celtics. What might be a long term improvement is if Stevens can find the next Devin Vassell or Brandon Boston and get him for cheap. Jalen Smith would be a good get except that he's gone at the end of this year. Really dumb move by Sarver and the cheapskates to not pick up his rookie option. Destroys his trade value.

I'll bang the drum again for Usman Garuba.

Was listening to Jake Fischer's hafltime app room and he said the Celtics are "intently" watching Brad Beal's situation, similar to like how Philly is with Dame.

Wright is ok, but expiring. We’d go into the off-season with no point guards under contract and an MLE. Using it keeps us in the tax.

If we give up a 1st and Atlanta gives up a 1st, that’s plenty for Detroit.

They can have Nesmith or a 1st, more than that is wasting leverage. We’re not paying for Collins straight up, we’re paying part of the price for Grant.

It’s always been their intention, and it’s a horrible secret.

Obviously doesn’t mean they’ll get him, but it’s plan A.

We’d be better this year even taking a half empty view of Collins: start Schroeder, who’s much worse, like Rozier, coming off the bench; Al becomes a backup 5 or we have the flexibility to trade him; Romeo gets a steady place as the heir apparent bench wing for outplaying Nesmith, it’s a deeper and more balanced roster this year.

Only question with Collins is whether he fits into the offense any better here than he does in Atlanta. He’d be the third or fourth option and I don’t see Dennis or the Jays rushing to give up shots.

Obviously you take a defensive hit losing Smart but you upgrade from an elite role player to a borderline star.
