I decided to check some +/- stats to see if it would ease my anger... Shouldn't have done that. Just checked RAPM which is +/- but regularized to account for other players you play with and your opponents (that way bench guys won't be overrated, and starters won't be overrated - this is an overly simplified explanation). Cam Reddish is literally 581 out of 586. Terrence Ross is the only non rookie rated lower than him.

He's the classic has all the tools to be an excellent player but needs to work on consistency. For me he's one of those players that seems built to thrive in New York compared to Atlanta which always looks to be a ghost arena. I can talk myself into envisioning him being a dynamic piece off the bench running breaks with Rose, Obi and Grimes trailing for the three. Let RJ's work ethic rub off on him and he's the perfect project to gamble on.

The pick is heavily protected. I dont think Cam is that bad either. He's nowhere near as bad as Knox. He still needs to put it together but has shown some signs. Worth the risk imo. Basically anyone you draft around 20 will be hit or miss too anyway.

I almost posted that he was the Knox of that draft. I think he has more of a chance to pan really well though. The flashes are more intriguing.

Tell me you never watched a Hawks game without saying you never watched a Hawks game. I live in Atlanta. The boy is absolute garbage. He keeps falling out the rotation because the team is so much better with him on the bench. He might be an average starter if he went to the G-League or something but he's horrible.

I'm trying to reframe this in my mind as NY getting ready to make a pitch to Zion when he forces a trade out.

IQ was his boy in HS, RJ and Cam at Duke. Outside of helping to get Zion this move makes no sense.

Reddish is only a third-year player. And he missed half of last season due to an injury. Furthermore, he was only the fourth wing in his team behind BogBog, Hunter, and Huerter.

Yup, both Cam and RJ making strides right when they are supposed to. This could end up being one of the best trades in history if Cam reaches his potential here.

Give the guy a chance here. He's only 22 and has flashed great potential.

The Knicks traded a net negative(Knox), and potentially the 20th pick(which is a huge unknown), while retaining their own, higher pick.

Let's at least be patient and see what he does for the rest of the year with the Knicks.

At the very least, he's been shooting 3s at a 38% rate this year and he's a decent defender with the size and athleticism to handle bigger wings. So instead of RJ being the only decent wing defender, now we have 2. So long as his shot stays, he'll have a place in the league

So I looked into this "improved shooting from three" quickly.
lReddish has played 34 games this season, and is absolutely shooting 37.9% from downtown. But last month he went crazy one week in two of those games (12/22 and 12/27) when he was 6-10 and 8-13 from deep.

In the other 32 games he is shooting just 33.8% (44-130). So while he still has the talent, I don't think that "38% from three this year" tells us what we want it to.

He's more talented and athletic which is why it's even more baffling he's worse than Knox. I hope you don't have to have this confirmed though. Thibs is usually good about keeping absolute scrubs off the floor. Even Elf at least had some positives to his games (lobs to Mitch and played hard on defense).
