Knox was buried on the bench for last two years. When you saw him play he definitely added some skill instead of being strictly a 3 point shooter. He’s not great obviously but sitting cold on the bench doesn’t help. If he gets minutes I’m sure he’ll show he’ll be pretty solid bench guy

Hawks desperately need defensive athleticism. Hopefully Knox takes advantage of that void.

Cam was part of the problem it seems. It's understandable why he would want more opportunities, but I would like for us to focus on more veterans, and not as much young talent going forward. We need to develop what we have and have a strong understanding of what their ability/expectation is before they're due a big extension.

Knox needed to be in a different system. I think he will have success in ours and not the defensive driven one that Tom Thibodeau has.

I think this was good value. You can likely find the next Cam Reddish with that pick, cheaper, with more term and younger.

Knox i assume gets waived

Knicks need guys who can contribute. too many low level role guys.

this is one the knicks win early but atlanta wins down the road

But when and with who you play is very important.

I was not expecting a move like this one. It seems boring and deceiving to me.
I hope the pick is going to be used in another trade, but it is not a great pick.

Disappointed, I just hope he doesn't become mini T-Mac or someone..

Watch, ankle will be healed and MLK night will be revenge night.

Knox is probably the worst defender I've watched on the Knicks since maybe Calderon was on the team.

I think Knox has a chance to pan out for you guys though, he has a lot of skills and talent and a beautiful looking shot. But he's a pretty weak player mentally and seems to not have a killer instinct or much interest in playing basketball generally speaking. Guys just happy to be here kind of attitude.

But I will say I don't think the Knicks did him any favors, during summer league his rookie year they had him running PnR offense as the ball handler and he looked great in my opinion, but once he got in NBA games they just camped him out on the 3 point line which kind of sounds similar to Reddish role wit the Hawks?

I think in the right place and right scenario Knox could be something, but I wouldn't really bet on it especially with the log jam Hawks have at SF/PF

That's correct.
Considering the pick is highly protected I can only assume nobody offered one better.

Yes! While that number IA concerning I also don't believe Reddish had the drive/passion that we hoped for. I will see how he does with the Knicks where playing with RJ and Randle coils be beneficial to Cam.

Instead of waiving Knox I hope he can be moved for a piece or future assets.

 Good one Jam! May I call you Jam? I know we’ve had are ups and downs but I may all in on a Ben or KAT deal now.. or just defined roles. I honestly don’t know if this is a good play for us as a team..

My thinking, it’s a wait and see on all sides. For the Knicks it looks sexy as hell on paper and I’m not gonna say I didn’t love Cam and watching him play, I was a huge fan. For us, let’s the starters know who they are and allows a bit more team play, we can’t have Hunter injured anymore though that phase has to be over.

Graded it a C. Just not sure we got enough to justify it. My hope is that Travis is already working on another deal, and the team(s) involved just wanted to avoid Cam's future contract situation. Other than that, we lost a decent prospect in an attempt to reset a rookie contract.

Was this a fair price for Reddish?
The Hawks have made Reddish widely available since before this past draft cycle. The price then was a first-round pick, and it never changed.

Atlanta was looking for something closer to the slot where it drafted him, No. 10 overall, but nothing materialized. The front office had conversations with the Pacers, Lakers, Cavaliers and Pistons over the past several months, sources say, but the Hawks were always waiting for that first-round pick for Reddish.

Recently, The Athletic learned that the Lakers had offered two second-rounders for Reddish. Still, the Hawks believed a team would eventually offer the first-round pick they sought. They asked for Knicks rookie Quentin Grimes, the No. 25 selection during this past summer’s draft, during negotiations, but the Knicks turned them down, sources said.

As far as if the price is fair, we’re talking about a top-18 protected pick for someone who has only tantalized with his talent over his first two and a half pro seasons. Reddish, 22, flashes nodes of stardom because of how smooth he looks, then goes through stretches where he’s unplayable.

He owned, by far, the worst plus-minus of any player in the Hawks’ rotation this season. His defense declined, and some wondered if he fully bought into his role in Atlanta, where he came off the bench and was mostly a spot-up shooter. There was a sentiment from some inside the Hawks last season that replacing former head coach Lloyd Pierce, along with Reddish’s unavailability due to an Achilles injury, were keys to the team’s turnaround, which ended in an Eastern Conference finals berth.

Will a change of scenery help Reddish?
This is what Reddish has been awaiting. It was an open secret in Atlanta that he wanted to go elsewhere, according to sources, because there wasn’t a path for him to become the player he thinks he can be — which meant the road to a lucrative contract extension, for which he is eligible after this season, wasn’t going to be there. Reddish’s availability also didn’t help his chances to earn a more prominent role. He has played in just 66 percent of available games during his career.

The Hawks’ roster, particularly on the wing, is deep with other young players who have been more steady. Atlanta holds De’Andre Hunter, who was drafted fourth in the same draft as Reddish, in higher regard. Kevin Huerter just signed a four-year, $65 million extension this past offseason, and the team signed Bogdan Bogdanovic to a four-year, $72 million contract prior to last season. Each of those players was going to be given more leeway to play over Reddish.

CHA fan here...

That CHA pick will almost certainly convey this year (injuries permitting). We are currently 23-19 on a 4 game win streak and we have just about the softest schedule in the league remaining for the rest of the year. I think we currently have the 10th best record in the NBA. We have a lot more home games than away games coming up and have already completed both of our West Coast road trips for this season.

I think you could find a really solid player in that 19th-22nd pick range in the draft and for that reason the pick will at least be a nice sweetener for an additional trade at the deadline. There's also a small chance Knox blossoms and he's just a throw in.

I like the trade for ATL.
