I wonder if we gave up on trading for Grant. We already got a bigger SF in Reddish. But Grant is way better player now than Cam.

We can be on the pursuit for Grant. We could still be willing to give Evan + Obi + pick to get Grant as well. I fear they demanding IQ in the deal.

Unless this trade serves as an entree to a Zion move, then this move reeks of Scott Perry.

Cam fits the archetype of an inefficient player, former lottery pick, that Perry covets.

Then there's the fact that Perry was highly interested in him in the draft process back three years ago.

Finally, as you alluded to, there is the looming contract extension, which means he won't be a cheap asset for much longer.

I don't see any reason to be optimistic about this trade unless the Knicks are pressuring Zion to take the QO or to force a trade to the Knicks.

If this was a pressure zion move they'd throw a ridiculous bag at coach k to come here, I doubt zion gives a **** about cam coming here but yes def a scott perry move since it was very much like the mudiay and lebron stopper trades

Being eligible really doesn’t matter. He’s still on his rookie deal next year. Year after its Qualifying Offer/Restricted Free agency time. Same as RJ.
We can let the market dictate his value and just match. It’s up to him to create his market and value with the next year and a half. Asking for $15M doesn’t matter if he bums it up his stint here and no team values him by that amount.

LaMelo's efficiency isn't good either, but the big difference is that he's an on-ball player and a playmaker.

LaMelo's a terrific talent but he will need to improve his efficiency as well.

Stretch 5 unlocks TF out of RJ. I love Mitch but the fit is not there long term.

Except that Mitch offers an outlet lobs if 5s move out to cover his drives. Mitch has been cleaning the offensive boards lately something that Dallas' center was out of position to do, since he was shooting and missing most 3s.

Right and RJ is doing ok unlocking himself and in return he unlocks Mitch...Center is by far our strongest position. We dont need to waste assets and pay Turner 20 million in an effort to be cute.

That is the downside and why he came pretty cheap. But at least we have team control and some time to evaluate.

yeah ultimately there are reasons ATL sold lower. They punted a lesser asset to keep longer control.

We can evaluate but we will have to make a decision way sooner.
