Knox in my opinion still has a lot of talent. Fiz allowed him to play despite him being the leagues worst defender. I don’t know how bad Reddish is defensively but that was Knox’s demise. If Reddish can at least be league average defensively he could potentially get the chance Knox didn’t get with Thibs.

He's worse defensively than Knox as hard as that is to believe.

I feel some in this thread have not watched Cam play. Dude was known as a defender coming out of the draft and has been pretty much that when given minutes. At the very least (and I dont think this is some outlandish take), he'll be able to do what Bullock did for us last year. Hit open shots and guard a good perimeter player. It also gives us the opportunity to move on from Fournier with the next move.

I never really liked Knox and was never crazy high on Cam.

But the big difference is Cam has some defensive potential compared to Knox. I think he could at least be a 3D guy. He is shooting 42% on catch and shoot 3s this year. Not saying he will be a star or anything but I think there's at least a path for him to be a solid rotation player. But yea, he still has to put it together and be consistent. You may be right and he may suck. Just wouldnt close the book on him yet.

Knox can shoot too, we should realize at this point being tall and shooting while being terrible at everything else isn't good. Especially when it comes wrapped up in a bad attitude like Reddish. Say what you want about Knox he always kept a positive attitude and played his role. Cam really thinks he's that guy and doesn't need to improve.

Cam is known for being athletic and long enough to play defense. Not actually doing it. He's legitimately terrible on that end.

Cam's issue is pretty obvious. He thinks he's a superstar. He thinks he's prime Tracy McGrady. He's not close to that though. Dude takes and misses a bunch of iso jumpers, refuses to pass, can't get to the rim, can't get to the line, and he has zero motor on defense.

This Knox trade only reminds me of how much a failure Perry actually is.

That's one of the issues I have with the deal.

Developing Cam means dealing with his inefficient scoring and questionable motor.

This will negatively impact the development of our more important players on the squad, including RJ, IQ and Obi.

Knox's best quality this year is that he wasn't playing. So he wasn't affecting the other young players with his terrible play. Cam likely will if he plays.

Looking at the Hawks reddit, seems most of em are mad about the trade. Yet they basically say hes got a lot of potential but he doesnt play within a role. That he thinks hes KD instead of 3 & D.

So he’s gotta solidify his base as a 3 & D guy first before he tries to be more than that. Time will tell!
