If Zion ever gets in shape and healthy (a big if), he will have Giannis-level impact on the NBA.

He doesn't need to become a good jumpshooter so long as he has shooters around him because he's unstoppable when he attacks the basket. He gets to the rim with the ease of 2007 LeBron, and his finishing is exceptional. Give him a PNR partner and a stretch 5, and he will dominate.

If there's even a 20% chance he gets in NBA shape, you still get better odds of contending for a championship down the road than you do continuing to build around this core.

A healthy Zion is (at least potentially) in that category with Shaq, Giannis and LeBron as one of the most dominant forces the league has ever seen.

So the real question is, is he out of shape because he (quite clearly) wants out, or does have trouble self-motivating and he's just a waste of potential? The Knicks have to do their homework. Let's see if a trade is available in the coming months.

I was feeling good about the trade until E-balla, who apparently watched the guy play all the time, crapped all over it.

I mean, that's got to take some of the joy out of it, if a guy sees him all the time since he's in the same area, and thinks he's not "decent" or "ok" or "bit of a project" but thinks he sucks and is one of the worst players in the league, you have to at least consider the guy is not that good.

Hope he's good. It's the Knicks, so we'll probably be disappointed. Nothing ever really works out.

The Charlotte pick could've been a throw-in that helps a trade for a young player who's actually good, like Haliburton.

Now, I don't know to what extent Haliburton's actually available, and maybe Cam will break his own pattern of efficiency and ball out with the Knicks.

But I'm not a fan of trading assets for mediocre players.

I'd rather have packaged the Charlotte pick, Obi plus the Dallas pick for Hali (not sure the Kings take it but it's just a general idea). Then you get a young player who actually helps your team and who can also be traded at a later stage for a star if need be.
