Should Leon target De’Aaron Fox?

Post#1 » by RandlesCornrows » Fri Jan 14, 2022 7:53 pm

Fox is available and we certainly have tons of assets, so I’d be shocked if Leon isn’t involved. We got two point guards that’s broken down. Acquiring Fox would give us that big step forward for sure. Obviously he’s a poor shooter, but he’s someone that can score 25ppg and run an offense. Would be our best PG since who? Clyde?

Question is would the Kings want Randle or Obi as a starting piece. Are they still looking to rebuild or want to compete. I think Leon is committed to Randle and with a point guard like Fox, Randle becomes extremely valuable since De’Aaron is ball dominate.

I’d assume guys like Obi Toppin, Quentin Grimes, Mitchell Robinson, IQ, Miles McBride, multiple picks, even Randle would be discussed in a deal. Not all together but 2/3 pieced together. I’d want to keep Q Grimes the most cause he’s that piece that would be MASSIVE in a playoff series so keeping him out is absolutely necessary, but I can see the kings being all over Grimes to replace Buddy.

But keeping Randle with a core of:

Julius Randle
De’Aaron Fox
R.J. Barrett
Cam Reddish
Quentin Grimes/Immanuel Quickley (assuming one is dealt)

After a deal would be pretty damn legit surrounded with 3&D role players. Since these guys are not even near their prime except Randle, and not sure if Fox is still peaking. That’s a team that can compete for a long time.

Honestly I feel we’re the perfect trade target for anyone willing to trade their star to I feel confident a trade for Fox will happen.

Toppin+quickley+grimes+multiple firsts would be needed to make that happen

Only if Randle is heading out as part of the deal.

The only Sacramento PG worth making a deal for is Haliburton which is why the Kings are trying to move Fox. Fox has the higher upside physically, but Haliburton is cheaper and can help a team win.

Rather ask for Davion Mitchell. But he's probably not available

I'm not the biggest fan of Fox because he's never been a hyper-efficient guy and doesn't have the easiest path to ending up efficient in his role, hasn't lived up to his defensive potential and he's reliant on speed which tends to be the first thing that slows down athletically for people in the league... That being said I think last year he showed BIG flashes on what he's capable of as the main cog of your offense. 25 and 7 is no joke for a guard as young as Fox and he's been in a bad situation team-wise since he's been there so there's some upside I think that's untapped.

For me, the deal comes down to price. If we're gutting our entire young core and giving up picks, then i'll pass. If it's, let's say 2 of our valued young guys, outside of RJ, then it becomes more palpable to me because I don't think he's a can't miss top 25 guy and there's a chance he's peaked already IMO.

So something like Obi, Grimes, Burks + 2 1sts would be the highest i'd feel comfortable going.

We should explore but explore with caution is my final verdict.

Randle + scraps for Fox + scraps

or

Randle + IQ for Barnes + Haliburton (preferred deal)

Get us a PG!

Say it with me folks... none of the guys on rookie contract is available especially the good ones.

I was a supporter of Fox but you guys convince me that there is something up with him and his defense. If you can't take Kemba's defense then how can we stomach this?

Now I'm on the Ben Simmons bandwagon.

Fox can't shoot 3's and is gonna be horrible for spacing. Hard pass.

I voted yes, but the caveat is, it depends on what we trade.

I admit I'm on the Randle for Fox bandwagon, but we still need to consolidate players somewhere.

I'm kinda torn

Cause I was really high on Fox coming out, and I think having a drive and kick PG is exactly what we need, plus I recall him being a good defender at one point

But the numbers don't match up, and I haven't watched enough Kings games to see myself, and he's already making 30 mil this year

I think it comes down to what it'd cost to get him, and if we can pawn off our vets to free up minutes for the kids.

Remove Grimes and maybe make it one 1st, maybe 2 seconds and that's a deal for Haliburton.

If it's Fox then trade them Julius and call it a day. And he can bring Metu along with him.Fox is just as unaccomplished as Julius. I'm not trading young assets and picks for Fox. Keep it just like Knox and Reddish. Change of scenery trade.

I wonder who would win a wind sprint race in practice, Fox or Obi? Would be very close.

(Sulking no effort Randle would definitely come in last.)
