Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
For the record if we are making a deal with sac town - I’d want Barnes. Think he’d be good here but I don’t see a deal there. Then I’d want Halliburton.

First move to make is to fire Udoka but that will not happen for at least another season...
So, just trade Schröder for a 2nd rounder and that is it...this team is not going anywhere anyway...
Why wait? After 43 games we can see this season is lost. The best scenario is losing in the first round of the playoffs, most likely someone will eliminate us in the play in.
Don´t see the point in waiting now.
With Udoka as head coach we are going nowhere...besides, he like veterans, he is terrible at developing (playing) young guys, so if we make any trades by the deadline it will be shipping out Nesmith, Langford etc. for some veteran help...and we will still at best make it to the first round...

Is Barnes supposed to play the 3 and 4 given the opportunity? Are we thinking Grondo, Brown,Barnes,Tatum,RW as starting 5 ?

Would 100% cost Jaylen, but I think a fair amount of this board would do a variation of that deal.

I am also intrigued by our supposed interest in Simmons. Who would say no to this, Philly or us? :
Brown and Juancho to 76ers
Simmons and Seth Curry to Celtics
Brown and Juancho to 76ers
Simmons and Seth Curry to Celtics

My version of Bohemian's trade would be Barnes, Halliburton and Davion Mitchell for Tatum and Schroder. If they won't part with Mitchell I'll throw in Freedom and take back Richaun Holmes.
Then I would try to move Brown elsewhere, e.g. to Houston for Jalen Green, Usman Garuba and filler (Theis or Augustin)

Can Coaches be traded for each other?
How about Ime Udoka, Will Hardy and an unprotected first round pick for Steve Kerr and Kenny Atkinson.

Hali
Beal
Tatum
Barnes
Rob
Would be pretty snazzy next season. Don’t worry though, it’s not going to happen lol. So just go for Barnes, who would be a great fit with the Jay’s.

LOL, it's not happening because without Tatum or Brown, other teams will have better offers for Barnes. He's a pro and would fit anywhere, e.g. Toronto or Atlanta. And those teams have better assets to make it happen.

I just want management to shake things up. I don't see the point of wasting another season...

It's already wasted. Maybe in about 5 years the J's will grow up, but maybe not, and that's when the injuries start to mount up, as the Trailblazers are discovering.
Even if you could get him, Harrison Barnes would be the next Evan Fournier with worse shooting but better defense and rebounding, and it would be a challenge for Barnes to get enough touches to make a difference.
Pritchard was obviously having a good shooting night but when they put him back in in the second half along with the J's Pritchard never touched the ball on offense except to bring it up. Not once. No shots. Zero. As soon as Udoka took the J's out, Pritchard started lighting it up again.

Re: Last Train to Celticsville Trade Thread
all right guys, here are some simple facts as I see them, and then a few ideas I have at the end.
Facts:
1) Boston is NOT going to fire Ime after just one year. The PR hit the owners and team would take would be too great. Besides, I don't think it is all Ime's fault. He is just working with what he has been given. Brad needs to make some moves for help. The owners are not going to let hm punt the season until next year until there is no hope of playoffs.
2) Tatum and Brown are creating more TO's because the coach, and all of us, wants them to be creators in the offense, and they are trying to do that. It is a work in progress. Going from ISO ball to trying to create offense takes time. Teams know that if you shut down Tatum and Brown, there really is no one else that can beat you on the Celtics. They are both doubled at end of games to get the ball out of their hands. Stupid passes are a big cause of course, but if it wasn't in the back of their mind to try and get their teammates involved, they may not try bailout passes at times.
3) Tatum and Brown are having less assists mainly because the whole point of the assist is the player receiving the pass has to MAKE the shot. Here in lies the problem. We need shooters and rebounders around Tatum and Brown. Horford has lost it; Smart is not a 3-point threat that opposing teams take seriously. Rob is the only other true threat out there. Grant, Pritchard and Richardson are the best we have after Tatum, Brown and Rob.
4) This has been said multiple times before, but we need a real point guard. Not saying Smart has to go, but the team needs a floor general that can hit the 3 consistently, and Smart nor Schroder are not it.
5) Schroder, Hernangomez and Freedom need to be moved. Attach a future 2nd round pick to them and get them off the team. 3 G league players would bring more to the team than those three. Schroder is a ball hog and will not pass the ball or set up the offense like a true point guard does. Hernangomez was supposed to be a shooting big, but he sucks so bad he can't even see the court. When Freedom is on the floor, any lead or momentum we may have gained is lost because of his terrible defense. Pick and roll switch with him and EVERYTHING from foul line out is wide open. On offence, now all he does is try and set picks at the top of the key, but because he is no threat to make a shot, no defense pays him any mind.
ideas for some moves:
Brad needs to make some moves by the deadline, if nothing more than to move the things holding this team back.
1) Schroder and Hernangomez need to be moved in a 3-team trade with Atlanta and OKC. Schroder to Atlanta for a pick, with that pick and Hernangomez going to OKC for a fake 2nd.
2) Freedom should be released. If Schroder and Hernangomez are moved as above, we will be well below the cap to take his minimum salary cap hit.
3) Start Pritchard, Smart, Brown, Tatum and Rob. ENOUGH of these two big line ups. Tatum plays best at the PF slot where he can use his speed against slower PF's. 2nd team should be Richardson, Langford, Nesmith, Grant and Horford.
4) With Freedom, Schroder, Parker and Hernangomez gone, we will have 4 roster spots open. Sign IT4, Joe Johnson, Glen Robinson III, and DeMarcus Cousins to finish out the season as deep bench to go along Bruno Fernando, just for sh@ts and giggles.
