Pelinka would be very stup*d if he doesn’t make a move for Myles Turner.

Keep LeBron out everyone's mouth
If it's not Luka, Tatum, or booker... Don't even try it.
AD on the other hand... We should def try a move with him and Westbrook out

I get the intent of bringing in a defensive-minded guard like Covington, but he's already on the decline and he's not really a good shooter. Not sure I would trade the only young player we have besides Reaves for him + picks? That seems like a lot. Perhaps Powell if Portland is going full tank mode.

We'd have to give up Reaves, THT & picks. Basically all we have and we'd still luck out.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
Davis, Westbrook, Horton-Tucker, Monk, and Bazemore
for
Simmons, Harris, Green, Thybulle, and Springer
The Sixers get an all-star for Simmons plus two young pieces in Tucker and Monk. They don't want Westbrook (no one does), but they make the trade because of Davis. They try the twin towers lineup this season, and if it's unsuccessful, they trade Davis in the off-season to Brooklyn for Harden. Westbrook plays at defensive SF, but is probably bought out if he doesn't mesh with Embid and Davis, which is likely. Milton takes his place.
PG - Maxey - Monk
SG - Curry - Korkmaz
C - Embid - Drummond
PF - Davis - Niang
SF - Milton - Tucker
The Lakers do what it takes to rid themselves of Westbrook. They rationalize that losing Davis to get get a younger Simmons is worth it even though they become a very small team in the process. Simmons becomes James' understudy. He'll become the primary ballhandler in transition while being relied upon to be a halfcourt penetrator, rebounder, passer, and defender. Harris becomes a very important offensive piece between Simmons and James. Every player acquired, with the exception of Harris, is an above average defender and sorely needed, with Thybulle and Simmons being elite. Overall, the complexion of the team is completely changed. There are smart, defensive dogs up and down the lineup with shooting to boot.
PG - Bradley - Nunn - Springer
SG - Green - Reaves - Ellington
C - James - Howard - Jordan
PF - Harris - Anthony - Ariza
SF - Simmons - Thybulle - Johnson

About as good as Davis and Cousins.
If the fit doesn't work, they trade Davis for a better fit, IMO.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
Was thinking about the Simmons thing and the other big trade demand stalemates that have happened over the years and it got me thinking... They need to either ban the trade demand all together, somehow, or they need to have a mechanism to have it wrap itself up quickly...
These situations pretty much put a pall over the entire league until they get figured out... Everyone has it in the back of their heads and it makes them less likely to make moves, for fear of missing out on a deal...
What if a time limit was immediately kicked off, as soon as a player made a trade demand... They either were traded in 2 months, or by the next applicable trade deadline, or they get a 10% bonus for the remainder of their contract but have to stay with their current team, for the remainder of the contract?

Are you spelling opposed like that to be cool? It doesn't come across like that... quite the apposite, in fact.

I think you have the right idea with Westbrook, we're gonna have to pay to get off that... but rather than get rid of Street Clothes along with Westbrook, we should be looking to get rid of LeGramps.

What is the preference for Laker fans Jerami Grant or Myles Turner? I’m leaning towards Turner with the other personal we have. If we still had Caruso and KCP I’d lean towards grant.

I'd prefer Grant. Do we really want to see Lebron as the SF on the team for much longer... jacking up threes and unable to guard the best big wings on other teams? Lebron is 6'10", 260 LBs... it's about time he took on his proper role full-time instead of making everyone stand in the corner like muppets to space the floor so he can score easy points while also wanting 2x bigs on the floor to do the dirty work. He needs to get down and get dirty... and so does fecking Street Clothes.
By the by, I'm gonna refer to Anthony Davis as Marc Anthony (like the soft, emo, romantic music singer) until he starts playing again and playing with fire. The major competition (Bucks, Nets, GSW, Suns) are too hungry for anything else to fly.
Russell, Monk, Grant, Lebron, Marc Anthony
or
Rusell, Monk, Lebron, Marc Anthony, Turner

It's interesting to imagine writing in rules for an official trade demand - there are no-trade clauses and trade kickers already - but your specifics don't work. It'll deflate the quality of trade offers, getting a bonus for not being traded means you incentivize players to ask out - nothing to lose if you're dealt and you get a raise if they keep you. Puts way too much pressure on the team - an artificial deadline to make a deal and a major loss of flexibility, a trade request clause that converts into a no-trade clause can't work.
But some mix of incentives for both parties might work, in theory.

Re: Trade Ideas thread
Requesting a trade (which has to be in the contract) means a ten percent pay cut until you're dealt, but if the team doesn't move you within x period of time (6 months?) they provide escalating compensation to the player out of pocket (which doesn't count against the cap) until a trade is made. A kind of luxury tax for holding up trades, and a tax on players requesting them..?

Re: Trade Ideas thread
It's got to be costing Simmons a lot more than 10% of his salary this season right?
The main leverage a player has is to not play if the team doesn't want to trade him?
Similarly, I don't think the Spurs or the Pelicans fined Kawhi or AD when those two wanted off those teams.
But they did both leave some money on the table. They could have had tens of millions more at least if they stuck with their old teams.
Losing some money for a couple of seasons or not being able to maximize it is not a deterrent though, when they can make $35 million at least per season. And they have outside income from endorsements and such.
They have extravagant lifestyles but they're not spending close to their full salaries if they're smart. They're investing a lot of it.
A couple of seasons ago, there was a story about how Lebron went on vacation in some overseas place with Wade, Carmelo and maybe CP3. He was unwilling to roam with his phone on a foreign network, to avoid the roaming fees, which can be steep. So Wade and Gabrielle Union were mocking him for being cheap, for all the money he makes.

Not much more than 10%. Philly have been paying Simmons full salary for a while now. Everytime Simmons was fined, you heard about it. All the times you didn't hear about him getting fined, assume he was paid.

It could also be a convenient excuse to unplug for a few days. Kind of like isolating after a near-contact, waiting for a PCR result to avoid a party you don't wish to attend.

Welp looks like Myles Turner is out of the question because Pacers want 2 first round picks, which we don't have.

Westy, DeAndre, and baze, picks.... For Gary Harris, Bamba, and fultz
Than try to trade fultz, and tht (and Dunn, if we have to).... For Gary Trent Jr and dragic.... Or grant and josh jackson
Trade Harris for Harrison Barnes
We get all the length we need.
