4 paths for Cam Reddish (levels, not style)
Mudiay- physical profile and talent who just never puts it together and completely busts
McDermott - high draft pick who doesn't really pan but carves out an effective role as 20 mpg bench guy/starter on bad team
Jamal Crawford/Terry Rozier - guys who needed 3 to 4 seasons and/or correct opportunity to turn into bonafide 6th men/starters, short of a star player
Paul George - star level
Probably 3rd choice or 2nd choice or somewhere in between. Actually, if Scott Perry drove this trade, then it's the first choice.

Re: Knicks Get Reddish per Woj
Why did Thibs have to come out and say that Reddish is not guaranteed minutes ? Really? The team just gave up a first rounder for a guy that might not even see playing time.

I see the comparisons of Rozier and Crawford as a possible career arch for Reddish. I can kinda see it. I honestly think Cam just needs more reps , more playing time to make mistakes and not feel like he’s going to get benched. His inconsistency is an indication of that. One game he can drop 30 then the next you won’t even know he’s on the floor.

I'd go for a 6'8" Rozier or Crawford for sure.

I can see this being Austin Rivers all over again…
We’ll see how it goes
Or Dennis Smith Jr all over again...
This trade is risky but not so much in terms of what Kevin Knox or that protected pick might turn out to be (chances are not much on both) but rather if Reddish can figure things out and get everything together (like Paul George did) or is he just going to think he can be a star and expect things to go great and get defeated when it doesn't (like Dennis Smith Jr). Or maybe he ends up in some middle ground area like JR Smith (loads of talent, some of it not realized but still produces very well enough if maintained right). Honestly, JR Smith might be one of his trajectories as well and that's not necessarily all bad once you get past the initial urge to throw-up.
Will he thrill or disappoint Knick fans and the Knick universe?
It's a trade worth taking. And it does give the Knicks better ammunition and more flexibility if they are trying to make an even bigger move (which they most definitely should be looking to do IMO).

Re: Knicks Get Reddish per Woj
I'm still looking at a Mikal Bridges type of role for Cam. He may not be quite as good of a defender and he potentially can be a better creator/scorer yet as far as role he can be a versatile defender that runs the floor hard and hits the open 3s off the play makers the Knicks have on the roster.
Look at the contract Mikal got and how important of a role he plays on a title contending team, both of those are a great career to carve out. If he happens to work himself into more of a star type then great that's a credit to him but if he settles into more of a Oubre floor in that role some may say he didn't maximize his talent though it's still a useful piece.

That’s what I hoped as well, but I don’t know if he would be content accepting that kind of role he’s saying he wants to be a superstar not a 3 and D guy so that’s concerning. I don’t know how he isn’t a good defender with his physical profile it makes absolutely no sense. But hopefully Thibs can figure it out with him and get him right

Jeremy Cohen with an interesting breakdown of the trade in terms of asset management.
I'm still on the skeptical side regarding the trade, but buzz's point about the Knicks potentially extending the shelf life of their asset, and Cohen's analysis give some reasons to feel more optimistic.

If he wants to be more than a super glue guy then he will need to work hard to improve his ball skills and get the game discipline to not be an inefficient chucker who consumes shot clock pounding the ball. Will Thibs ans the staff be able to coach him up to be the star in that role while also working with him to maximize his talents as he hopes? We'll see.
I posted some advanced stats earlier in this thread that shows he actually is a really good defender but he'll need to work within the team system that Thibs employs to be the best he can with the Knicks and get the respect of coach so he gets the opportunity he craves. Yes, he has the tools and ability to be elite in the role with potential for more.

Just occurring to me that one of the best parts of the Reddish trade is that we didn’t do the Knicksiest thing by trading a FRP for Eric Gordon.
