We're probably gonna get a decent young prospect and a 1st at this point for him.

The Pistons' package of Grant, Saddiq Bey, Kelly Olynyk and a first-round pick, for example, was not met with much enthusiasm by Philadelphia brass, league sources told B/R. But when that deal construct began to circle around rival NBA front offices this fall, it also alerted teams to Grant's surprising availability.

Yuck. I really hope that wasn't an offer legitimately made by the Pistons, even with pick protection.

So we were trying to trade Olynyk before he played for us? Seems unlikely. We also can't trade a future first in any year because of the pick we've already traded being protected as a possible first until 2027 and you can't trade 2029 draft picks yet. That's the type of rumor floated out there to try and up Simmons trade value.

Rui and a FRP along with salary ballast? Deni doesn't have the wingspan to be a Weaver guy.

Connections to DC and Chicago make them more likely given if Weaver moves Jerami he'll look to take care of him with his landing spot.

Fwiw the magic were asking the same for Aaron Gordon and got Harris, Hampton, and a 2025 protected pick.

A lot of the teams they are projecting, don't really have many assets that a team like the Pistons would want. I think they should move him though, if he is amenable to it, they don't really need him at this point in the teams development.

Fischer isn't exactly an A-tier source. For all I know he's just piggy backing off of other published work and adding a little to it. The only new bit of info is the thing about Washington.

And yeah, I regret that most of the teams reported to be interested don't have particularly good assets to offer. The Lakers in particular have literally nothing I want.

That thing about Simmons doesn't pass the smell test. We can't even deal a first within a reasonable time frame.

The Washington trade would be good if they added their 2022 FRP. A good player will fall in that range. I like Mark Williams from Duke.

The Chicago pick is from Portland and it’s top 14 protected until 2028 then conveys as a second and they might suck for a while.

I guess it depends on how much better you think PWill is better than Rui.
Man I hope those rumors are true.

I think the Bulls, Blazers and Wizards certainly have the assets with high upside young players and picks.
I'm just not convinced yet that Weaver is willing to part with Grant barring a massive overpay.

Not likely. Notice the "for example," meaning it wasn't the Pistons' idea nor was it ever offered by the Pistons because it says later in the article that only the Sixers were talked to. "The Pistons' package" in that context means "A package of Pistons players," not "What the Pistons offered." But journalists know what they're doing; they know damn well that most readers would assume the latter.

Depending on the player and pick, that’s basically what I expected.

Just saw that Myles Turner is out for a while with an injury. This is good news for the Pistons, it takes a big seller competitor out of the race most likely. Been saying this for a while, the time to trade Grant is now if they trade him at all.

I'm pretty high on Rui's potential. If the Wizards offered up Rui and that was the best package, I think you have to seriously consider it

I want nothing to do with Rui. He’s a bench lifer.

The only young guys I’d want from Washington (outside of Beal, obviously) are Avdija and Bryant. Maybe Todd as well.

Hell no on Bertans lol. Article said Harrell and Rui which would actually be a nice tryout for Harrell as a stop gap C. That pick would be around 14-20 with where the Wizards are and will be in the standings.
