I know what Fischer said, but things always change. They very well could just duck the tax, but that being their path is far from a given.
Idk, the Jabari waiving to me signaled they were gonna duck it. But who knows.
If they go into the tax this year, they can't half-ass it. Get a Barnes/Hield type and go deeper into the tax. There's no real point being $4 million or so over the tax line, might as well duck it at that point
I’m sure that’s the battle Brad is having with himself. I think the most likely path is a tax ducking move, but maybe Brad really wants to make a strong signal to the Jay’s.
Winning a playoff series and putting up a good fight in the second round wouldn’t be the worst thing.
That was my goal before the year: second round.
I guess I just have a hard time believing that they've made it pretty clear that they want to move Dennis but also would buy. I guess you can move Dennis and still buy at the deadline, but not many players make around $5 million that are as good as him.
I guess you can point to moving Smart or J Rich to get that, but when those two signed extensions here, I took that as they were only going to be moved for Beal in a sign and trade or star trade next offseason. I still think moving those two in-season is a little unrealistic, unless they can find players who are A. better and B. under contract long-term, which is probably unlikely.
I'm sure they want playmaking and shooting, the roster desperately needs it. But again, I think the big changes for the roster will come in the offseason (hopefully for Beal or at least another star or star-esque player).
