Worst case scenario even if the rumors about Harden are true.
Next year we get KD back. Kyrie will be able to play full time.
And you kill Philly in a trade. I would demand Simmons/Maxey/Curry and a pick.
Then we have a ton of depth around KD/Kyrie. Not the worst position to be in.

You can not kill Philly. It's up to Harden. He can just walk and leave us high and dry. Harden would want to make sure his new team does not get **** up. Otherwise, why does not he just stay?
A ton of depth? Let's see teams projected payroll in 2023
- KD 42M
- Ky 36M
- Joe 18M
- Carter 4M
- Cam 2M
- Sharpe 2M
That's 104M out of the 120M cap space. Assuming we sign Nic to a deal worth 10 mil per and we need to pay Kess, we would have very limited cap space to do anything major. Of course, we can sign some minimum contracts but after all this saga surrounding us and without Harden, I'd be really surprised if we are going to attract any quality minumum contracts.
The best case is if we retain Harden or do a sign and trade with Harden which brings us some assets. Otherwise, Good luck competing with this roster. I do not even want to bring up how many games Ky and KD will miss per season. Ky has played 78 games in 2 and a half seasons as a Nets and KD will get old and need load management.
Having said all that, things might turn out ok. Down 0-2 against us, Bucks were on the verge of collapse with rumors coach Bud would be sacked. Now look where they are.

What are you talking about?
Harden cannot go to the Sixers unless we trade him there. They don't have the cap space.
The ton of depth I'm referring to is what we get back in a Harden trade.

Again he can just walk away as he's a free agent. You are assuming a sign and trade, but why would Harden **** up his new team this much just to join it? It does not make sense. Might as well stay. You can also forget about Maxey & Curry as Morey would want to surround Harden with shooters. It's more like Ben + fillers or Harris + Fillers.

To where?
Philly literally does not have the cap space to sign him. He has no choice.

Lol we keep running in circles on this.
I have always marvelled at GM's ability to clear space in the NBA, not to mention a Cunning Morey.
If Harden says "I wanna come", see how fast Morey would pull it off.
If I were the GM, I would do the following. Surely Morey would operate much more efficiently.
-Trade Ben for picks & expiring contracts
-Then trade Tobias Harris and Picks obtained above for expiring contracts
In fact, Morey has already started the process. They rejected a trade involving Jeremy Grant. They want a bigger fish. https://section215.com/2022/01/18/philadelphia-76ers-grant-fit-embiid/
Now that clears over 50 mil in cap space, they can sign Harden outright! Donot ever doubt these dude's ability to do this if a superstar commits.
Knowing Harden tho, I think he would leave something for Brooklyn if it comes down to that which means a sign and trade. But do not expect too many quality assets because Harden would want to make sure his new team is of quality or he might as well stay.
I hope we somehow turn the corner and it will not come down to that.

If you don't think that Daryl Morey can't clear cap room between now and July to sign Harden outright, you will be in for a rude awakening.

Thank you HB! You have spoken correctly and unfortunately, not many can see this. Harden WANTS THAT LOVELY 270 MEGA Million bucks. Sixers would have to absolve most of their team to make enough room for Harden to sign outright. Morey knows he wants a sign and trade and knows that's the only realistic route. Marks WILL NOT do any favors for Morey. If he wants a S/T.... Sure but you demand a lot back. If Kyrie is available with a young Simmons, who needs a fresh start, KD/Kyrie/Simmons will still dismantle teams and Nets would still be considered the favorites. Just surround them with good 3 and D players and develop the rookies more.

The Sixers are currently 43 million over the cap.
Even if you trade Simmons and Harris thats not enough to sign Harden out right to max contract of 40 mill +.
Sixers would literally have to gut their whole team to sign Harden. It will have to be a sign and trade.

Sixers need to dump Harris and Simmons, and little else. While both are overpaid, both are very good basketball players. Someone will take them. If you see them dumped, you know Harden's agent is in Morey's ear.

I'm pretty sure If Philly believes that Harden is open to it, his agent and Morey have been talking.
The Nets are dysfunctional right now and Harden is not sticking around for it, and it starts with Kyrie

Your maths is off.
I have already said it. The key is trade Ben and Harris for expiring contracts. The 76ers can’t wait to offload them. Anyhow, let’s not focus on this.. let’s focus on the nets…

Lol... cleveland? Memphis? Denver? lol no!
Its Morey or warm weather. If miami can shed the salary (spoiler alert, they cant) maybe thats another options besides philly. The Knicks? lolz. he isnt leaving here to be worse across town.
