Re: Tank World Order (7.0)
Barnes has had a better rookie season than any of our core players, so I would hope that means he develops into a better player long term. He's shown me that he can be a versatile and dynamic player already.
If his ceiling is Siakam, thats great but I hope he can surpass that. It seems like theirs some people wishing for Barnes to fail to use as an argument against getting a high draft pick. I hope thats not the case but it sure is starting to sound like it.

Not at all. I'm a fan of the team. I want this team to compete and get better. I don't cheer for losses. I'm just simply reminding people to keep their expectations in check and that Pascal was a 2nd team All-NBA in 2019. I don't think people realize how big of an accomplishment that is. If Scottie becomes as good as Pascal is right now then we are looking at an elite team as a guy like OG would be our 4th best player.
Scottie is far more advanced than Pascal in many areas but there are some areas that Scottie likely won't be as good as Pascal in. We also need to remember that although Pascal came into the league at 22, he had only been playing basketball for about 6 years. There was a lot of untapped potential in Pascal coming into the league. Regardless, it's safe to say that Scottie has a bright future in this league. If he becomes as good as Pascal then it was a major success and there is a chance he becomes even better.

Thats a fair point. I agree, if Scottie becomes as good as Siakam, thats not a negative. Siakams development curve is unprecedented in this franchise, Derozan is a close 2nd but Siakam is just special in that regard.

I really want to know who wants to see Scottie fail. That's like the equivalent of wanting to see FVV and Pascal wanting to fail which we all know would never happen on this forum.

this is a typical misinterpretation here.
A measured response to the constant "Scotty needs to shoot more, scotty needs to take the clutch shots, scotty needs to do everything" crowd by people like me saying hes perfect doing what he is doing and that trying to fast forward his development can do more harm than good is interpreted as "I want him to fail".
But it does not change the fact that pro-tankers need this guy to be a superstar, or else their whole argument collapses. Barnes has immense potential I cannot wait to see how far he can take it.

Thats absolutely not true, he doesnt need to be a superstar, he's already a +starter day 1 which is a huge success. The argument that the lottery is another way to acquire talent, isnt precluded from Barnes career success.
That being said, I have the utmost confidence in Barnes, not because of his lottery draft position but from what I've seen frok him so far in this season.
Theres always going to be someone who has an issue with our players, whether its Siakam, FVV, OG or in this case Barnes, I was the biggest OG stan for years and I still think he has more to show while some seem to imply he's a finished product.
If Barnes never improves past his rookie season, Im still going to be okay, he's already a good role player and Im always going to be excited to see what a strong talent evaluating/drafting team like the Raptors do with a lottery pick.

And none of them even wanted him picked. Its still so funny to me.

lol this guy just keeps making stuff up. I haven't seen a single post where someone wants him to fail, and not everyone was against Scottie being drafted. These guys just keep making stuff up and painting everyone with the same brush.
Its probably the anti tank guys hoping for his failure as Scottie is a great success story of a tank job, and proves them completely wrong.

You're accusing people in thread of wanting Scottie to fail, whereas its secretly yourself who wants to see the tank job seen as a failure. It's ok you're entitled to your opinion.

Re: Tank World Order (7.0)
Scottie's fine, but he's no Alp Şengün, that's for damn sure. That's who Masai would've picked according to Doug Smith's imagination in the teens. A better passer than Jokic!

Damn. GreatWhiteStiff you have converted a prominent member of TWO to team treadmill. SMH
TWO is team treadmill. You're cheering for and hoping to get the 12th pick.
