The Turcules question - what do we do with Omer Yurtseven? *With Poll*

Moderators: KingDavid, MettaWorldPanda, Wiltside, IggieCC, BFRESH44, QUIZ, heat4life

What should we do with Yurt now that Bam is back?

Do nothing. Let him ride the bench, he might get minutes as a backup next season or if there's an injury.

Cut Bam's and/or Dedmon's minutes and give Yurt playing time now.
5

Play him next to Bam or Dedmon, Spo needs to find a way to make the big-big pairing work.
15
50%
Trade him for a player Spo will play next to Bam. If we don't bench him for monthes, he might net a nice player in a trade. Maybe someone like a PJ Washington.

I rather trade Dedmon over Yurt but Yurt would definitely bring back more in return. It depends on what the team values. Keeping them both may be an option as it adds ridiculous depth which helps with all the injuries and to rest players more.

I would try to get Yurt some more playing time either way though so he speeds up his development. It will be good for both options, whether you want to keep him or trade him. It will also keep guys more rested for the playoffs.

I remember Meyers Leonard started with Bam previously. I think Yurt is more athletic than Leonard. Maybe if Yurt became more of a threat from 3 he could take that role.

Currently, I have Gabe ahead of Duncan (due to his shooting slump) when ranking players regardless of position. Right now may not be the best time to trade Duncan since his value is at its lowest. A lot of players have been not as efficient shooting this year such as Lillard, Steph and George to name a few but not as big a drop as Duncan though.

Spo hates Yurtz.

He subbed Yurtz in with less than a minute against the Blazers. Can you at least let the guy enjoy his double digit reb streak and #8 ranking among rookies a little bit longer?

Just put in effing Dedmon or UD at that point, don't be a dick.

This is what pisses me off about Spo to no end. I personally don't hate the guy and all things considered, he is a heck of a coach under the right circumstances. But he never adjusts, and if he does it's usually cause he had absolutely no option about it. And is willing to try all sorts of stupid shite.

But you ask him hmm Spo how about Yurt in Bam for at least 2 mins to see what it looks like?

Spo - "what, are you high? Ludicrous, my software says the optimal setting is playing everyone one position higher than they are supposed to."

Heat can make a move to tighten up the playoff rotation with Yurt. I wouldn't blame the Heat if they traded high now or if they kept Yurt for future plans.

Yurtz speaks out (no drama)

https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nba/miami-heat/article257827558.html
“It’s hard, obviously, because you catch that rhythm and you have that raging fire to just keep going,” Yurtseven said to the Miami Herald. “But I trust in the coaches and the Heat culture, and I believe if they want me and need me in the game that they know that I’m ready.”

...

“When I see guys play, I don’t want to lose a beat,” he said. “I have that in my mind and I just go hard in everything that I do. The court workouts, I go like at game speed and that’s all you can do to not lose a beat.”

...

“I think it was just opportunity meeting preparation,” said Yurtseven, who spent the first month of the season out of the rotation before being pushed into a bigger role because of Adebayo’s thumb injury. “I was obviously not expecting any of it. As soon as it happened, I just had to shift my full focus to figuring it out every game, every opponent, every possession, every coverage. I think those two months, you can’t put a price on it. It’s priceless. You can’t really get that action no matter how much you work out.”

...

“He says, ‘You never know. The opportunity might be next game,’” Yurtseven said of the advice he has received from Heat captain Udonis Haslem. “Both guys [Adebayo and Dedmon] could get two fouls and the opportunity might be there. Three fouls before the half or four fouls, I may need to go into the game and give a boost for five minutes. All I can do is be ready for that and keep going.”

UD shares his thoughts

“He understands the situation he’s in,” Haslem said. “He just has to fall in line like everybody else is expected to. I think it’s a system and if you watch the guys in front of him, you understand how it goes. Gabe [Vincent], Max [Strus], all these guys, nobody is immune to it. When guys come out, they got to step in and play. When guys come in, their minutes change a little bit. I think the thing that we’ve been able to do is make sure that those guys understand that their role is just as important as anybody else.”

Yeah, we better not go on a losing streak or spo is gonna hear it in the media about this.

Very glad there's no drama though.

Our upcoming games are not going to be easy, but I don't expect Heat media to ever be critical of anyone in the organization.

The last Heat personnel they were ever critical of was Whiteside, and it's not like that was a bold stance or anything.

But yeah, I'm glad that Yurtz is taking it in stride and handled it as well as you could for someone who actually deserved to be playing.

Lol, this is getting comical! I should say you better get yourself oriented with Sioux Falls, coz that's where Yurt is headed next. :D

Sioux Falss would be better than DNP, let him keep developing at game speed even if its G league.

There is no way that any team in the league is going to trade someone on a rookie deal just because they don't have the space/opportunity to play them. We've already seen what injuries can do to the team, so why does this need to be a discussion point here? The next time Bam or Dedmon has an injury Yurt will get his chance. As a huge fan of Yurt myself, I can't wait to see him get minutes again, and would have loved it if there was some way to get him on court with Bam and/or Dedmon, but as we've seen the last couple of weeks that doesn't seem to be an option. I've seen enough from this franchise to know that they do have a plan, and are executing it as they feel is best. Changing up the roster to accomodate Yurt doesn't seem to be in the plans right now, but all that could change. Sad to see fans hoping for the team to trade away players they like, so don't give up hope!

Looking at a birds eye view on how Miami operates, from a management perspective you have minute commitments with other players. Unfortunately thats how the cookie crumbles here. He will be revaluated next year, and we may not make additional commitments to other 1 year salary players that are getting minutes this year. This is done 2 fold, one it means you keep players working hard to climb the latter, and agents around the league go to bat for Miami to sign players knowing they won't be dropped from playing time.

Packaging Yurt and Robinson together may get the Heat a deal for someone.

Return to Miami Heat
