Nets Will Try To Trade Paul Millsap

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jan 21, 2022 1:52 am

Paul Millsap and the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to find a trade as has fallen out of their rotation entirely. The Nets will try to find a team where he would have a greater role.

Millsap has only played in two of Brooklyn's last 17 games.

Millsap chose to sign with the Nets during the offseason after also receiving interest from the Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls.

If he's not getting minutes from the Nets, does he really think he's getting it from the Warriors.

Article doesn't say he's demanding a trade to the Warriors.
Says Warriors and Bulls had interest in him before he signed with Brooklyn.
The Warriors surely have moved on but hopefully the Nets do right by him and send him to Chicago where he would definitely get run on a good team.
But we'll see they might insist on sending him out of conference.

Why would any team trade for him when the Nets are going to buy him out in a couple of weeks?

Paul Millsap signed a 1 year / $2,641,691 contract with the Brooklyn Nets, including $2,641,691 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $2,641,691. In 2021-22, Millsap will earn a base salary of $2,641,691, while carrying a cap hit of $1,669,178 and a dead cap value of $1,669,178.

They would probably cut the incoming player as well, so might as give him a million and buy him out at this point.

it's because he sees that the organizations solution to anything is more small ball. Against Cleveland the Nets started one guy over 6/10" the Cavs started 3. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I don't know that BRK would worry about having to face Millsap in the playoffs.

Denver just signed DMC...maybe they'd have interest?
I don't see too many playoff teams that would be giving him a bigger role...

Exactly.
That's why I think it would be petty not to let him go to Chicago if that's where he wants to go. Very unlikely Milsap turns a playoff series at this point, and he did them a solid signing there in the first place.
