I think Franz has shown enough to think he can be a Middleton level player in the future. Suggs looks like a great glue guy. 2 stars would be great but I think that getting our young guys reps, drafting one superstar, and wisely spending our cap space should be enough to to contend in ~4-5 years if all goes well.

I agree with your post, one superstar plus Franz make the Magic contenders. Even though it's easier said than done, I would feel much more confident if the magic had two stars plus Franz.

What's our ideal acquisition...a little focus reset...eveyone knows "Stars" would be nice.

I want a Jalen Green/young Zach Lavine "type" SG...big, super athletic & long 3-level scorer, can easily be projected to score 20+ ppg for career. The addition of Shaedon Sharpe to the draft pool is certainly enticing to me...still a total mystery but that looks like the player profile I think we are most specifically in need of.

After last night's game vs. LAL, I might add a big tough veteran who knows how to set picks that people don't forget and runs to the guy who fouled his teammate, while the rest help up their guy...Steven Adams? I thought RoLo would be that guy and pass on his vibe to our bigs...but he's been little more than a sideshow. No knock on RoLo- he just isn't much anymore, even in a very limited mentor role.

I’m going for a two part answer:

1) Talent - specifically a franchise bucket getter.

2) If I was going by position I’d say a triple threat SG or wing. Suggs/Wagner/WCJ and Cole off the bench are the only real proven investments. Orlando really needs to bolster the starting lineup and have the young guys get more confidence. I’m even ok with a trade for another young guy to grow with the core (A. Simons).

Not a fan of teams that have an offense predicated on bigs, especially in todays league. The times they pan out as top draft picks and huge trade acquisitions are slim.

Totally fine if Orlando acquired one this way already having a premiere wing and backcourt. That’s not the case.

We need one of our guards to develop into a #1 option. I think we all want Suggs to be that guy. I don't know maybe it ends up being Cole, though.

I think a Suggs/Franz/JI/draft pick is the backbone of a really strong line up. 5th guy depends on who we draft. Could be WCJ. Could be a free agent guard. That line up will need scoring and better creation. I do think Suggs will be the guy that does both of those things.

Of course JI, his health and his offensive development is a big part of the puzzle too.
