Picks are picks, ie not always obvious, but they had to keep Butler at all costs/run that team back, that was the obvious part tho.

Butler didn’t want to stay. What do u want sixers to do? He’s a free agent. He took 4 years (with 2 year player option which he got 3 year extension) with the heat.

when sixers offered 5 years.

I don't know if something new popped up in the meantime, but iirc judging from what he said on those podcasts and elsewhere a year ago or so they didn't exactly impress him with the organization/dedication

It's Jimmy Butler. When was he ever happy with an organization? Not sure if it was the culture or just his fit with Simmons. So to your point, they could've kept Butler and traded Simmons. I'm honestly surprised Butler's been this good despite aging and not being able to shoot.

Is this the first time in history 3 different guys have PERs over 30?

Seaon's not over yet. 2009 all the true Banana Boaters had 30+ most of the year, peak statistical season for all 3. Interesting that it was all perimeter players then and all big men now

2018-2019: Giannis, Davis, Harden

That looks to be it, for a full season.

Was he wrong though? What he said about the Wolves was mostly true, and in case of 76ers probably true as well - when the stories surfaced how Ben didn't work or improve in years and they just let it slide until it blew up, it's hard to argue his point.

True Shooting .695 in January! +13.8 rTS.

For what it's worth- and I don't know how much people value this- Jokic's PER of 33.2 is the highest in NBA history for anyone in any season with 1000 MP in NBA history.

It’s more pathetic than that. The organization chose to keep Brett Brown over Jimmy. Jimmy was happy with Embiid, and being as non-threatening to Ben as everybody else playing that game. And he expected to come back. But Brett got extended and made it clear that an open and opinion sharing Jimmy, meaning Jimmy, would not be tolerated. Honestly, Jimmy was a better player coach than what they ever got out of Brett.

3 man race between Jokic, Embiid and Giannis imo with Jokic leading the charge. Nuggets are only the 6th seed, but without Jokic this season they would be in the running for the worst team in the league.

Somehow Curry is still the favorite, tied with Giannis, but Embiid has now leaped Jokic, and is a top 3 favorite according to fan duel.

Not just in the running this season. They are the worst team of all time without Jokic.

Steph is still only a favorite with bookies because so much money was put on Curry in the first month of the season. I'm sure betting has fallen off a cliff for him since mid December. His odds will blow out soon enough.

People bring up Steph's poor shooting but his impact is still among the best in the league. You can blame defenses for still defending him like it's 2016 but the value is undeniable.

Given that he's averaging 9 3-point attempts a game this month, Steph would need to make 14/36 for his remaining 4 games this month so that January 2022 doesn't finish as the worst 3-point shooting month of his career since the start of the 2014-15 season. Considering his 15 season was his first MVP season, maybe we shouldn't be to worried about his 3 point shooting regressing closer to what we are used to.

I think CP3 deserves to be in the conversation. The Suns are running away with the best record right now. What more does he have to do to win? I changed my vote.

1 CP3
2 Embiid
3 Giannis
4 Ja Morant
5/6 Jokic/Steph

Cp3 is good but he’s not in the mix his numbers are too inferior. Yes his team is on a roll and they are real contenders but he has no chance with Joel and Jokic putting up the numbers they have been.
