I saw a Ton of Rockets games last year, Wood is the real deal.

For a very short amount of time during the Harden and Wall era, he looked absolutely legit, maybe even max player legit.

It seemed any given night he could get you 20-30 points, 10 rebounds and 2-3 blocks.

On Miami I don't think he is going to get the green light to take 15-20 shots per game, but that run of nearly 40% from 3 was legit. He can space the floor; and he is a treat if you let him get established inside. The only real downside to him, he was not one to pass back out and set up the other shooters.

On Miami he is going to have to get use to passing from the inside back out when guys get open.

He’s definetely worth the risk for the proposed package we would be offering of Duncan, Yurt, KZ, and a top 15 protected 1st in 2024 or 25.

Had to go pull the stats, he was taking nearly 6 3s a game, now he is back down to 5 a game. He takes those 3s from all over the court, he is not going to sit in the corner waiting for a corner 3. His total attempts this year are a more manageable 13 a game. On the plus side, he has that attack 20 times a game mentality, he will go take 20+ shots if given the green light. He is like an anti Bam, he is not passive.

I hate to loose Yurt, for anyone. But if we had to loose him, I really am a Wood fan.

100 percent on board. Happy to see the rumor of our interest come out today since he always made a ton of sense for us to go after.

I always mention the organization having to save Spo from himself and small ball. They tried to fix that in the offseason with the additions of Tucker, Morris, and Yurtseven but when Morris went down with the injury and the emergence of Martin it opened the door for Spo to revert back to old habits in the front court. Also maybe by necessity as well since Morris is of course the more pure PF over the standard center with Yurtseven and the need to find playing time for Martin. Trading for Christian Wood would force Spo to always have a big on the floor whether it be Wood/Bam or Bam/Tucker or Wood/Tucker. You could also find ways to sprinkle in some Dedmon or Kieff within that group and possibly give Tucker some ample rest down the stretch. Trading Duncan allows you to move Martin exclusively to the backup SF role behind Butler. The starting SG role can be any combination of Strus, Herro, and Dipo. Vincent can also give you spot minutes at the two spot.

Remember this post for when he wins it at the end of the year. Who deserves it over him? 1st place in the East with Jimmy and Bam missing loads of time and Lowry and Herro almost missing double digit games. Who’s even close?

Spo, Billy Donovan and Taylor Jenkins have to be the front runners at this point. There's a lot of basketball to be played but if we hang on to the 1 seed I'm certain Spo wins it, he is very well respected across the league.

On paper Wood is a good fit, but we’d be taking a substantial gamble that he can actually buy into a winning program. His attitude resembles Whiteside to me. Maybe that’s a front, but he doesn’t strike me as a winning or intangibles player. More of a “me first” guy who just wants to put up numbers.

I will say though, he does have a nice shooting stroke and is long. Not sure what his defense is like.

Basketball wise Wood is a good fit on theory..... He gives me Whiteside vibes for sure.. This group has great chemistry. IF UD, Butler and Lowry can keep him on check he is an upgrade and gives us a higher ceiling with more versatility

There was a thread recently on the Gen NBA board asking for CotY picks. (link)

Taylor Jenkins got the most mentions. Spo got a few mentions, and some had him at 3rd place. Billy Donovan is sure to drop with all the injuries, though.

Anyway, for the people picking Spo "easily," be prepared for disappointment (and stop worrying about regular season awards, this franchise is about championships).

Edit: And I know that Gen NBA doesn't cast votes or anything, but the sentiment from other team's fans should be a decent indicator.

The main difference between Wood and Yurt is that Wood has been much better from 3 and scorer so far (more reliable). Yurt is a better rebounder and passer already though. Neither are anywhere close to the perimeter defenders Bam or Tucker are. Neither are very fast either. Yurt seems to be a better teammate based on what I’ve seen but maybe Wood just needs a new environment.

I don't see why Dallas would trade us Finney-Smith. They're 27-20 and the #5 seed in the East. We'd be looking at giving them guys like KZ and Keef, and that wouldn't get it done given they're in the playoff picture.

Torrey Craig is a good shout though. Given Indiana is likely rebuilding, they may be willing to dump him to get a look at a prospect like KZ.

He'd fit Spo's small ball ethos and would be cheap to acquire, but again, he'd be competing with Martin for minutes and Spo likes Caleb quite a bit.

Covington would be the best realistic target we could probably acquire IMO.

Lowry, Duncan and an unprotected FRP for Lebby

PG - Butler / Vincent
SG - Strus / Oladipo
SF - James / Herro
PF - Tucker / Martin
C - Adebayo / Dedmon / Yurtseven

You know you want the SS Lebby shambles guys

Bleacher report is ass normally but just figured I’d share. Craig is someone I would’ve liked as a thrown in on a Turner deal for sure. Just for an extra vet if he weren’t to play

That would be nuts lol!

Heat Twitter is trading Jimmy for LeBron, that’s a tough one but maybe I’m biased because Jimmy is my favorite player in the league and like 5 years younger.
