Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
I wonder if the Wolves would potentially move Prince and Okogie for Clarkson. I'd say they don't want another high volume shooter but also both are FA so they may look into consolidating into a longer deal.

Having said that, we will sorely miss Bojan's shooting. If that trade happens, it seems obvious that Conley will be dealt in a following trade, and if we get Schroder, then Clarkson may be traded too, since the role of off the bench scorer could be filled by Schroder.
I don't understand why people are so high on moving Clarkson..... He's the only other player, other than Mitchell, capable of creating his own shot...... We sorely need that.... And no, Schroder cannot replace what he does.......
Because he is an inefficient chucker who plays no D. He's been horrible this season and was unplayable in the playoffs.
Conley + Clarkson for Simmons
Speaking of unplayable in the playoffs .... Enter Ben Simmons. Pairing him with Gobert is a shooting disaster. Plus, he needs the ball to do anything on offense, which means the ball isn't in Mitchell's hand. (And then there's the whole, drama-queen, $hitty teammate thing that he's clearly been over this whole fiasco.) No Simmons, just no.

Portland’s Robert Covington, league sources say, is a trade target who interests the Jazz given their well-known desire to upgrade defensively on the wing.
Source: Marc Stein @ marcstein.substack.com
He would certainly give the wing and small ball center defense the Jazz need. If the Blazers give up Covington, they are giving up on the season, and maybe it would be the start of a rebuild.

From what Lillard has said, I think they are giving up on the season.
Ingles is cooked.

Right, Lillard said he won't come back unless the Blazers are in the playoffs. However, the Blazers would need Lillard back to make the playoffs.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
I think the Jazz are going to move Ingles, Clarkson and multiple picks to try to come away with Covington and Smart. Royce may soon be coming off the bench.
Smart, Covington and Royce give the Jazz more defensive flexibility, while Conley, Mitchell and Bogey do the bulk of the scoring. Gay does a bit on both ends. Gobert and Whiteside anchor the middle.
If the Jazz are going after Covington, it means they've struck out on Grant, Barnes and probably one or two other guys (e.g., Kuzma).

This is a great resource to look up players' LEBRON ORTG and DRTG, etc. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lFHIHH93Imr2okeqv6n7Sed7gl9wPg_KqnS7KfD98nM/edit#gid=2065252118
According to these stats, Covington is an overall better get than Barnes or Jerami Grant (although is offense is pretty bad).

I thinks that’s why they wanted draft compensation from Boston, so they could then pursue Grant with 2 picks.

I must have misread, thought he said he won’t come back if they try to make the playoffs, was thinking injury rehab.

According to LEBRON, Patrick Beverly is the preferred player over Marcus Smart. I'm not sure if he is available, but I prefer his contract.

We don't have multiple picks. But, if we can turn Ingles + Clarkson into Covington + Smart I'd be pretty happy, or even if we could turn Clarkson into either one of them.

I think they want draft compensation for taking Smart's big contract. He's about to make Bogdanovic money starting next year.

That rumor makes me think we maybe aren't actually interested in Smart. Boston just signed him to that extension, I'm sure they aren't looking at it and thinking "oh crap, shouldn't have done that 6 months ago" when he is playing at effectively the same level.

Unless they have free agent aspirations.

Or trade aspirations. That extension is too heavy though for Smart's value as a player.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
If the Jazz strike out on Jerami Grant and Harrison Barnes, I think their logic becomes pretty simple:
-- Trade Ingles and a FRP for Smart.
-- Trade Clarkson and a 2RP for either Covington or Oubre
Personally, I'm still intrigued by Christian Wood.

I don't see any reason for the rockets to trade us wood. We have nothing they would want and Wood certainly wouldn't help our defenseCatchall wrote:If the Jazz strike out on Jerami Grant and Harrison Barnes, I think their logic becomes pretty simple:

I honestly think the FRP would be going our way from Boston.

Re: Trade Ideas for This Season
Bulls fan in peace. I was intreagued but wanted to ask what is up with the yearly rumors Mitchell wants out?
Prior to this season it was due to a supposed rift between Gobert & him. Now it's been published he wants a bigger market. Is he potentially on the block this off season if the distractions increase?
