Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
My streak of bad luck continues.
After COVID, then food poisoning (which is still not 100% gone), my wife got a bad cold (not COVID), which has now passed to my daughter, who is being sent home from daycare. So that means I will have to go get her and bring her home missing more work. I'm going through my CC statement, find out that while I was sick and not paying attention, someone stole it and spent over $2600 on crap.
Trying to think positive and know that things will turn around, but man it's tough. I feel like nothing is going my way and the **** just keeps piling on. All I want is normal. Not even anything good, just let me be normal.

That's a rough run but it'll turn around. You likely won't ever be normal but the weird crap should stop.jschligs wrote:My streak of bad luck continues.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
Are there any audiophiles in this forum? I'm more of a wannabe myself, so I could use some help.
I have a pair of Elac Uni-fi UB5 speakers as my left/right channels. I have the Elac Uni-fi UC5 as my center channel. All three speakers have a low impedance of 4ohms, so I know I need a more powerful receiver to power them. I have a Yamaha Rx v673 receiver (about 10 years old) that continues to go into protection mode because I think it can't handle powering the three 4 ohm speakers I have (it is now forever in protection mode, so I'm looking into a new receiver).
I'm wondering
1) if you guys have any AV receiver recommendations to power these speakers that are 1,000 and under?
2) I'm looking into the Denon S760H, the 960H, or even the 1700h or 27000h as a potential replacement. Do you know if any of these receivers could comfortably handle powering the three speakers?
For what it's worth, I do not have sub to connect to the system and currently don't plan to.
I actually reached out to Elac and asked them directly, but I have not heard back.

Madison Keys to the semis! She killed Kreijcikova - seemed like she was struggling with the heat. This match reminded me that Keys' final against Sloane in the USO was five damn years ago. Man.

A western city of 4 million people totally paralyzed, with drivers being stuck in their cars for more than 24h in the snow at the main highways and reports that several hospitals were out of food for their patients. Also the totally expected issues with electricity etc in many neighborhoods.
No street has been cleared so far, but the weather is sunny and superb today so by tomorrow everything will have melted, et voila! the problem will have disappeared

Such stupid bull. Paying hundreds of thousands if not millions for a stupid cartoon ape. Yeah, it's "owned" by you. Congrats. Then the fad will pass and they'll forget about it like loose change in their couch. ****.

Unreal. I was in Athens trying to catch a Monday noon flight to Australia.
Left my mother's house 8am, it had just started snowing. Half an hour later my sister sends me this photo:

Meanwhile people are giving up and abandoning their cars on the side of the road, I'm skidding and skating in my little rental VW, but somehow I made it to the toll road and from there to the airport. I was one of the last few cars that made it, my flight was totally empty. Today they're telling me there are people who spent the night in their cars on that same toll road.
Probably not very impressive by Milwaukee standards but its very rare to snow like that in Athens, and when it does it catches most people unprepared.
24 hours later I landed in Melbourne. There's a heatwave LOL

Yeah fortunately I was on my own, I wouldn't do it if I had the kids with me. Alone in a VW Polo, no snow chains, I just geared down and followed a truck all the way to the airport trying to step on his tracks exactly, but I could feel the car skidding. If I had to stop anywhere I probably wouldn't be able to start again. People were already giving up left and right and stopping with their hazard lights on.
This is what it looks like today apparently

They say the CEO resigned, they're getting law suits, and they're trying to settle with the drivers by offering 2k euros each.
Idiots. There's still people stuck out there

Wow. When people start getting stuck in cars..........that's when it gets a little scary. Glad you made it out ok.
People not knowing how to drive in it along with no plows/salt/sand make it pretty impossible to navigate.

Everyone is pointing fingers to each other, the Company, the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Civil Protection, the Regional Governor. It's extremely funny.
They didn't offer 2k euros for each stuck car, the PM made that suggestion to the company. I hope everyone sues their ass off that company to be honest.

Wait, how is it the car companys fault?
