I went back and watched the game, and this is exactly what happened.

It started sometime around the mid-3rd quarter. I believe he was at the free-throw line and started mouthing "this is my city" and running his hands over the Orlando on his chest. Then after a drive where he got fouled in the fourth he started verbally yelling "Magic city" to a Chicago fan in the stands and proceeded to knock down both free throws and told him to sit down. This culminated two possessions later in the monster dunk where he started verbally shouting at the fan/fans again.

Personally, I'm here for it. It would be nice to have some type of pride when it comes to our homecourt. It's almost the All-star break and that was this team's 3rd win at home. Suggs also had to watch these previous two games Lakers fans and Chicago fans come into our house and outnumber us.

I think he's just fed up with it and I want everyone else to be too. We've needed an edge and some pride to us for 10 years now. Suggs is going to back everything he says up with balls to the wall intensity and momentum-shifting big plays like we saw last night.

Whilst I expected Suggs to be a little more NBA ready on the court (mostly with protecting the ball), it’s his style of leadership just like you’re describing that I saw as NBA ready. Even that was slow out of that gate in some ways, though he’s always been a tone setter on defense.

He may not win the team a game with his stats alone, but I see him as someone who might be able to will them to victory with his spirit and leadership nonetheless. I absolutely still see him as a core addition and prize of this new rebuild, as much as Franz.

Yep. Those plays Suggs made will be huge when we're good again.

There is noticeable tension building between Suggs and Cole. I didn't catch it until my second watch, but there was a play before a timeout in the 4th where Jalen was visibly calling for the ball and Cole did not swing it.

This led to a clear exchange of words heading into the huddle and visible signs of frustration on both players' faces.

I like Cole, but if there is going to be resistance to succeeding lead guard duties to Suggs, my choice is extremely easy regarding who will lose out. I'm not viewing that exchange as a good sign for things to come. Suggs is going to take over this team && Cole is going to have to move out of the way quietly or a trade will do it for him.

They're grown men and will do what's best for the team, imo. Obviously their future roles are up for question, but right now Cole looks best suited as a 6th man.

I saw Suggs and Cole talking behind the Wagners interview and Suggs was like tapping Cole's chest (as in like, a friendly teammate way) so I assume they are just discussing what's best to help the team win and improve. Obviously both of them moving the ball quickly and not playing hero ball all the time is what will help us the most. There is a time and place for those plays but not randomly in the 3rd quarter or out of timeouts.

Eh, I see it more as they're 20/21 year old young men trying to establish themselves in the league on a bottom-feeding lottery team. Cole is a big personality with a polarizing playing style. I see plenty of pathways for on the court tension, and don't like what I saw the other night. We may view Cole as a 6th man, but does Cole view Cole as a 6th man? I don't know.

I have no doubt that they get along off the court, in fact, all signs point to it. That's not really my concern though.

It won't be a seamless ride I just think eventually it'll happen. Or if it doesn't, Cole most likely gets moved.

But yeah, liking each other off the court doesn't always translate on court. I mean the ideal scenario is you have teammates that like playing together and it works on the court, but Kobe-Shaq-Phil couldn't stand each other for years and put that aside for the greater good because they were talented and knew what to do.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

He's already made significant progress at the offensive end. He was struggling to get into the paint at the beginning of the season. He's getting to the rim with relative ease now. He just has to work on his finishing from everywhere. I'm pretty convinced that the distribution is already there.

If there is any acrimony, we need to keep it out of public view. I want to see Cole finish the season strong. We need to strike while the iron is hot though if we are to recoup value on that pick. Cole has gotten a fair amount of praise this year from the media for his "development", but I think there is only a limited window to take advantage of that. We can sell our willingness to part with him as a roster crunch at PG when Fultz gets back. This is probably just wishful thinking on my part. I doubt this is even on our front office's radar.

It's just hard to trade guys like this. Look to the market for Sexton, or Jordan Clarkson recently. Doesn't seem like there are many bad GMs anymore that would just look at the 18/6/6 and gloss over the percentages and defense.
