Re: The Amazingly Sucky Bradley Beal
I still remember after we were bounced in that Boston series, he said "Cleveland was lucky they won't go up against us." And he was praised.....PRAISED!!..on this board for that! He's has always been a mental midget. He ain't going back to last year performance anytime soon.

I remember Wall and Beal being mocked for their comments.

You realize Foye was 26 when he came to DC right? That's 5 years older than Beal. Foye came into the league at 23!!! Two years older than Beal RIGHT NOW! Can we get some better perspective here?
3 years pro experience is 3 years pro experience. It's a valid comparison......Beal is a below average SG after 3 seasons of NBA basketball.
Do we lock up the next Randy Foye/Calbert Cheaney at 10-12 million a year if he doesn't improve next year? I would hope the answer is no....
I'd prefer to trade him along with Porter/Gortat/protected 1st for Cousins/filler while his value still has him pegged as a possible Wade type player. I see the same player who was at Florida, a talented 3 point shooter but nothing else.
Sorry but that's just poor analysis with a bit of strawman added to top it off. I've never made any comparisions to Wade nor do I see a worthy comparison there but the kid still has a good deal of talent and skill. And someone being 26 after 3 years of development is a massive difference from someone being 21 after 3 years of development and if you can't understand that there's some basic fundamental logic about age & development of basketball players that's lacking on your end.
Dat gets a TKO over Induveca.

He's doing worse in every metric except FT, rebounds and AST and all are just slightly above his norm. He's out of all star contention for sure. But he still have value to several teams might be time to start looking in to a three way with Philly to max out returns here.

Interesting you name dropped Philly and not Boston.
As an outsider (with some vested interest because I have Brad in a fantasy league), his numbers have been shocking this year. Well, for his standards anyways. He hasn't been taking over games with huge scoring performances, but at the same time the Wizards have had a pretty good start to the season.
Do you guys think it's more of:
a) The ball is being spread around more and Brad is playing less hero ball?
or
b) His mind is already onto his next destination in his career out of DC
Because I always assumed that he would at least ride out the year, get his supermax and then ask out the following year.

I think the man lost his grandmother and that messed with his head. I think he doesn't have an all star caliber player with him. I think he's got too much defencive attention on him teams are happy to the Kuz or Trez try to beat them of they can and live with it, instead of getting cooked by Beal.stormi wrote:gambitx777 wrote:He's doing worse in every metric except FT, rebounds and AST and all are just slightly above his norm. I don't say Boston basically because they don't have the assets I'd want. I'm not interested in brown for Beal. And they don't have a ton of picks. Ben Simmons is worth a ton of rebuilding assets. So if he gets moved to a third team, Beal goes to Philly and the wiz get a big bundle of stuff I can live happy.

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Bradley Beal
nate33 wrote:I'm not sure if there's really anything different with the way Beal is playing. He just isn't making shots.
He is shooting 16.7% on 4.0 catch-and-shoot 3PA's per game.
Over the last 2 seasons, he shot 38.4% on 4.1 catch-and-shoot 3PA's per game.
If we are assuming catch-and-shoot 3's are good shots, Beal is taking the exact same number of good shots as in previous seasons, but missing nearly all of them. Likewise, his percentage on 2PA's has fallen from 45% to 14.8%, but he doesn't really get many of those so it's not making that much of an impact.
He is shooting 29.2% of 4.0 pullup 3's off the dribble per game.
Over the last 2 seasons, he shot 32% on 3.4 pull-up 3's
So he is forcing up a little bit more shots off the bounce, but not much, and his shooting percentage is mostly unchanged. (His attempts and percentages on pullup 2's are basically the same as the last 2 seasons.)
On drives, he is shooting 42.3% on 8.2 per game, with a TOV% of 8.9 and 2.3 FTA's
Over the last 2 seasons, he shot 53% of 8.0 drives per game with a TOV% of 6.3 and 3.3 FTA's
So again, his attempts are the same, but the results are worse.
Basically, in terms of his style of play, he looks pretty much the same as last year, except he's taking 1 extra pull-up 3 off the dribble every other game. But other than that, the issue is that his shots are falling, and his drives are resulting in slightly more turnovers and a lot fewer FTA's.
One can certainly argue that he needs to adapt the fact that he has better teammates and he is dealing with different rules, and I hope he will. But let's not act like Beal is playing unusually selfish basketball. He is playing the same way he has played over the last 2 seasons, except that his shots aren't going in. If those catch-and-shoot 3's were dropping at the same percentage as the last 2 years, he'd be averaging an extra 2.7 points per game and his TS% would be .520 instead of the current .468. We'd all be saying Beal is playing fine except that hasn't yet adapted to the rule changes on drawing fouls.
Hey Nate, can we merge both the Amazingly Sucky threads (this one and the one from 2015) together and have it titled The Amazingly Sucky Bradley Beal Thread?
Thanks!

Re: The Amazingly Sucky Bradley Beal
Beal is leaving so you have to trade him. I don't like the whole alpha beta terminology but it's clear these last 2 years that he's not a leader. He's been in the league 10 years, still looking to others for leadership, and looking up to dress wearing Russ last year like a kid. Then you have the whole covid thing that no matter where you stand, his explanations were terrible. Then he got the jab anyways so what was the point. Then he always has his woman chirping about something. That's why I think that he's leaving. He can hear some different critiques but he's not going to listen to his mouthpiece of a spouse be disrespected as she was tonight. Go get Ben while you still can

He’s not leaving till he signs on the dotted line.
