Harden probably would not sign with a cap-spaced team. In a new team, he only can earn 200M/4. If he re-sings or signs and trade with the Nets he can get 270/5.

he can sign a 1-1 and get the Supermax the following year. The Nets wouldn't dare s&t him to the knicks.

Unless Harden is going to a team with cap space, this is all moot. Where is he going to go?

Miami - who are the matching salaries and I'm sure the Nets will want to recoup all those picks.

Philly - I can actually see Brooklyn doing that if you give them the right amount of players and picks. Simmons, Curry, Maxey and picks if Morey is that desperate. If Harden wants to go, I would oblige and make that trade if the pieces and role players are right. Simmons will be the defense stalwart that the Nets desperately need and be the 4th or 5th option.

Kyrie
Curry
Simmons
KD
Sharpe

Harris
Mills
Edwards
Maxey
Cam Thomas

forms a solid rotation, adds a DPOY type player, shooting and young players

the point was, the knicks would have the option to sign him outright as an FA if they didn't piss away capspace on the likes of Fornier.

San Antonio still has a logjam at guard after trading Forbes for Peanuts: Murray, White, Walker, Vassell, Primo, K. Johnson.

Keldon and Vassel are SF (although the late could be better at SG). And Walker might walk (he was not extended and will hit the RFA market).

Even so, I agree Spurs are willing to deal Murray or White to give minutes to Primo. But Murray would be very expensive.

Doesn’t matter what you label Johnson. He’s a wing regardless (who I realize can even play PF) and I knew someone would definitely feel called upon to point this out, but just imagine him on our roster. They won’t deal him (especially not to NY), but they do have a logjam.

And they sure could use some Obi.

What’s the absolute cap for you on what you’d give?

Quickley/Toppin, our pick this yr. If he's worth more than that you bail. I like Haliburton. I wish people listened to me as I told everyone the Knicks need to draft him but I'm not giving up the world to fix my mistakes. Just do better next time.

How do you know there will be a next time with this current roster?

And assuming you somehow do have the chance again, why wouldn't you pay the world to maximize your team IF you believe that much in this kid? Just to say "I didn't over pay"?

I would do that Wizards deal but I think they would ship out Dimwiddie and not Bertans. I still do it though. Randle or Grant would also be likely targets for them because they need a high level big to play besides Beal.

Blazers isn’t bad, and the Hawks feels the most unlikely because if this was the case they would have waited and did a big trade around Collins and Cam coming to NY.

Yeah if you're going to trade Randle the Wizards one would make the most sense...by far.

CJ McCollum will turn into the next Julius Randle (i.e. auto target on back as the next escapegoat) if they make that trade once fans realize that McCollum is no more able to do anything to lift this team to anywhere anymore than Randle could (and likely even less so to be very honest...the grass isn't always greener on the other side, the other teams "kinda star" isn't always better).

The one with the Hawks? Only if the goal is to route John Collins to another team maybe. If fans aren't fans of Randle trying to go solo they're not going to be fans of Collins trying to do the same (and that's been what Collins has been after...he wants to be Julius Randle when it comes to freedom of shots). Even less so. And as much as I like Jalen Johnson, between his offcourt personality quirks and Collins own issues, it's going to not end up pretty in the NY spotlight when (not if) the team doesn't improve.

THJ out. Send DAL one of our superfluous vet guards.

I don't know if you want the pick this year instead of next year but they're able to switch it now to this year if we wanted.

Fournier is a prototypical Mav. Trade him for Frank Ntilikina.

I’ve been doing some trades on the machine with them.

Their team is very weirdly constructed. Not much money elsewhere.

But yeah take back Powell and let him rot on the bench till we flip him to another team for something else I guess

I keep thinking how cool it would be to get Rui and that 2022 and 2024 pick from the Wizards for Randle. It would be rough rest of the season and RJ would need to confirm he is ok with being the man.

Yet that is how you go young and try to build around your youth.

Ok, then the fourth is letter protected. :D Or maybe do some pick swaps?

Would you pull the trigger on that deal?
