Yeah, I'd love to get Sabonis, agree he'd be perfect in our system as a passing big.
One thing I was playing around with is trying to use Philly/Simmons to make salaries work better and convert Wiggins to lower contracts (also swapping out Moody for the better-shooting Springer), something like this:
Trade Machine link
But it gets complicated and still doesn't address our need for a legit Steph backup, while giving up most of our young assets. I think all of us know deep in our hearts in Steph goes down for 3-4 games in the playoffs, we're probably done, we have little protection against it. Poole, Chiozza, GPII aren't the answer at PG IMO. Sure, Draymond and Iggy can sort of act as PGs, but it's not the same and who knows how healthy they'll be either. Poole can sometimes act like a PG, at times he looks brilliant, but he's got an A/TO under 1.5, that's not good. He's a mediocre distributer with an unreliable shot.
So that's why even though I'd love to get Sabonis, I would lean more toward Haliburton, with Holmes being not as good as Sabonis, but still an acceptable upgrade. We can cover 2 strong needs instead of one and still keep Kuminga.
[Of course, no idea if Sacto would be interested, but it's the Kings]
