Thrilled to see the confident Duncan we used to know back out there lately. Now he needs to keep it up!
Part of being a special shooter is not just eventually getting back to 40% 3-point shooting ways, but balancing out the poor stretch for the first 1/3 of the season with a scorching portion of the season shooting like 50% from 3. I want that 3-point percentage around 40% by the end of the season!
But more than anything, I want him scorching in the playoffs.

Zero reason to make a move right now that takes PJ out of the starting lineup so searching for a 4 willing to come off the bench behind him with Morris should suffice.

I'm testing the waters here, I can't help but feeling sad for Knicks fans now and again, is it they try too hard? Or is it that we are spoiled because the heat has us used to good to great teams ???

Looking at depth charts around the league and the PF landscape keeping in mind they need to be a fit to play alongside Bam looks like a challenging task.

We are spoiled compared to essentially every franchise in the NBA

I think the Heat and Spo really value having all the shooters on the roster. Shooters are going to be streaky. There are going to be games where Duncan is fire as he has been the past two games. Those were preceded by maximum Strus.
By having a bevy of shooters you increase your chances of one of them being hot on any given night. We've got three guys, primarily, who can go nuclear (Duncan, Herro, Strus) at a moments notice. On their nuclear nights they can cushion the blow of the others being off. That shooting cushion is pretty desirable.

Makes sense and I generally agree. It just might get tricky in the playoffs when our core players minutes will rise and we may have less luxury to identify whose turn it is to go off.
Honestly, this team is currently trending towards potentially rolling with a 10+ man rotation in the playoffs. I just wonder how long that can last when every weakness becomes exploited in the playoffs.

Yeah, I generally think of 9 guys as a playoff rotation, but we are silly deep. If we can take advantage of that depth and play all out, we might be able to overwhelm some teams who can't match that level of energy.

Based on what I've read in the rumor mill, it seems like ATL would be willing to take less for John Collins than Houston would for Christian Wood. Does that sound right?

I don’t think Miami is trying to do anything to shake up the chemistry on this roster.
Only move that makes sense to me is if PJ Washington becomes available and we’re able to swap depth for him. KZ, Strus, Martin, Vincent, Keiff, etc

I think Wood has higher upside than Collins. But Wood also is carrying some more reputational baggage and is a better value contract

Salary differential is pretty huge. About $10 million per year. Production is very comparable. Guess that is enough to sway return in Woods favor.

I think Collins is better than Wood he’s just got less opportunities now with all the scorers Atlanta has. His role has really shrunk for right or wrong. I’d love to have him

If you have a chance to get wood or another nice PF you take it. Now Robinson is hot and no ones wants to trade him? What if he gets cold again then what?

I was looking at the landscape without having to trade Duncan. Covington is not getting bought out

What for? We already have one of the best PF in the league and pretty good backups.

Right now the primary backup is a smallish SF and the other backup has missed 3 months due to what can now be called a very serious injury. Our small front court will get torched in the playoffs unless we are playing our 36 year old Tucker 40 plus minutes a game.
