Bears dipping back in the Chiefs well. Hopefully it ends up the same the last time they hired a Chief staff member.

Interesting. Does he head over to commentating, or does he go to another coaching gig somewhere?

Networks are very interested in him. He's still under contract so another team will have to give up some compensation if he still wants to coach. I guess he didn't want to go through a rebuild with no QB.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

You almost have to think it is a stepping away from coaching for a while thing. Remember when he was suspended from coaching for a season, I feel like he came back really energized and talked about how he thought it was good for him to be away

The cynic in me thinks Payton looked at the cap sheet messy from years of can kicking and decided that was going to be someone's else problem.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Leftwich to the Jags as expected

Good old Bears, doing the opposite of every good team in the league. All 4 remaining playoff teams have offensive-minded HCs that just outsource the defensive responsibilities.

They wanted to try another Ryan and Matt combination

Jags are kind of fumbling the ball with Leftwich. Figured he’d be a natural pick but now he’s interviewing for New Orleans while Vic Fangio is being flown in to Jacksonville. Coaching carousel continues.

Yeah, sounds like it could go south. Leftwich supposedly demanded Baalke got removed from roster control and to bring in his own GM - Adrian Wilson. But I've seen conflicting reports. A couple outlets - all probably the same single source - are saying that Khan agreed and than Byron/Wilson will be taking over. Who knows.
If I was Lawrence and that didn't happen, and instead they keep Baalke - who sounds like a disaster - and bring in Fangio, I'd be demanding a trade. What a hopeless situation that would be.

In a vacuum I kind of don't understand not hiring an offensive minded guy if you're a team investing in a young franchise QB. Say they hire Fangs and he brings in his own staff. The upside is the offense and QB do well enough to the point where they need to hire a new OC in a year or two because the other guy got a head coaching gig.
I know the Shanahan tree thing was largely derided when MLF and Taylor were out here getting jobs, but they've worked out. If I had Lawrence or Fields, I'd want to hire the best offensive mind available to run my team.

Khan doesn't exactly have a stellar track record with organizational personnel
