raptors are just as aggressive as any other team; stop corelating all moves made by 29 teams as the same as the moves made my 1 team the raptors.
if you do h2h comparison team vs team, raptors are up there.

if you want aggressive you want Colangelo type as GM, fixing one hole, by creating another, then fixing that hole on and on....

If they want Turner, better to wait for his 2nd team to get sick of him a la the Orlando situation with Ibaka. Price went from Oladipo/Sabonis/Ilyasova to TRoss/late FRP in less than 60 games.

I didn't mind Theis in the offseason, but now that we have Birch, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense. If Theis had a cheaper salary it may be good to get some redundancy since our Cs are always injured, but he's getting paid 8.9M avg with a few years left.

If the Rockets are sending some sweetener back for taking on that contract for a few years, that's a different story.

Theis has spent the season with the Rockets. I'd want a daily breathalizer report for the last few weeks before pulling the trigger.

We'll see how it turns out but I don't see the Raps making any major moves.

Call me conspiracy theorist but I think management wants to ride it out and see where we land in the draft to take a shot AGAIN that we're in the lottery. They know they have one of the (if not the) best scouting departments (MIA is up there too) to see if they can't add another young star then start really building the roster out then (again kinda ironically as MIA did with Bam & Herro) and imo that would be the smarter move.

I can see them grabbing someone like Theis or whatever other fairly insignificant C in order to semi-appease Nurse & Co but I really think it won't be until AFTER the draft that you start seeing the Raps become more aggressive in getting some "bigger names" (not necessarily for star players but just good & clear upgrades to the bench). Then next season, added another top young talent to grow with Scottie & OG, please Fred & Pascal to stick around a bit more and being fully loaded to START the season so we can hopefully be higher in the standings as opposed to just trying to squeek in as 7-8th seed that will likely face one of MIL, MIA or BKN (I just don't believe that CHI will hold off those teams from the top 2).

I see the Knicks, Wizards and T'wolves as the biggest buyers right now. Knicks are Knicks and they really don't want to go back to missing the playoffs. After last year, and with Thibs, there is no way they don't try to claw their way in. Washington wants to really show Beal they are on the up right now. I can see Knicks going for a player like Mccolum, Hield, even Powel. Not a lot of teams can get CJ outside of a blockbuster and that doesn't look like will happen. Knicks can offer picks and serviceable players on smaller contracts. But they already have a lot of guards so I doubt they'll trade like for like. Wizards don't have much to give outside of Montrez and some picks. Unless Dinwiddie isn't working out with Beal as some rumour said (can't remember where). And T'wolves have some 30 mil expiring and their draft picks.

I think that's an overpay for Turner given the injury that he has right now.

Yes, it POSSIBLY can. It can potentially get us a star, it can potentially get us a role-player or it can potentially get us nothing. That's the risk you are taking.

However, when trading one along with Dragic and Boucher, you know what you are getting. It depends what you want. Do you want to take a chance with incredibly low odds of finding a star in the draft or do you want to get a good, young player who you know can contribute. The former can potentially set us back whereas the latter can help us move forward.

Some poorly managed teams pay a premium for FRP's. Masai might look to capitalize on other GM's stupidity like he did with Orlando when he sent a FRP/Ross for Ibaka.

If our core was better I'd 100% agree with you, but this core as it stands is not good enough to challenge the top teams in deep playoff runs. FRPs are extremely valuable, I'd much rather use our FRP on a young player making pennies than trading picks for players who will only improve us by 1 or 2 wins

It doesn't matter if we can't challenge the Nets/Bucks/Heat in the East because we aren't getting a grizzled old veteran in return that would set this team back. We would be getting a young piece that we can move forward with.
