Not one player on this team is untouchable. That in itself is enough reason to blow this up.

Why can we get more for him than Philly can? Answer... we can't.
I think the concept was that we play him and rehabilitate his value. Since he refuses to play for Philly, people might feel they can get him on a bargain deal. Morey has made clear however that he won't ship him out at a discount. Still, the last anyone saw of him was the lowest point of his career. If he was here and reminded people of why he was an all-star, he might see his value climb again.
Though of course if he came here and played at an all-star level, why would we want to ship him.

Because he has a flaw that makes him a broken player

No. He doesn't have a "flaw" in any way different from the fact that every player has a flaw.
Take a look at what he CAN do rather than what you think he can't do. & at what he DOES do rather than what you think he doesn't do.
Simmons scores an average number of points for a PG -- but he uses fewer than average offensive possessions to score them. That's good not bad.
Then there's the rest of what he does, which - overall - is absolutely killer. Then there's his defense. Guy's one of the best players in the league & has been since his rookie year.
People seem to think that being a basketball player is like being a model on a runway -- that it's all about how you look. No. It's about what you get done. Simmons gets more done than just about anyone in the league.

Be auae Philly A wants too much from him and B doesn't want rebuilding pieces. We are providing a proven all star in Beal. A team like Sac, OKC , NO. Who have assets and no top tier super star win now assets to send out could offer a good rebuild package that we would take. That's why you do a three way trade because we would be happy to take a rebuild package for him if we loose Beal when Philly isn't and has title win now hopes.payitforward wrote:gambitx777 wrote:I think the only way to do that is to make a three way trade.ozthegap wrote:Can we trade Beal for Simmons and then flip hip to another team for his actual value?

God I miss Wall so much.
It'll never happen, but I'd be thrilled to see this, assuming moving Beal isn't in the cards:
3 team trade
Wall to WSH
Dinwiddie, Bertans, third team asset to HOU
Trez to third team
Couldn't help myself guys sorry

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Tommy should get in there and offer Beal to PHI before this trade deadline, you never know, bird in hand and all that!
One trade proposal that would spike my interest would be a 3-way with IND:
WAS sends Beal and receives Sabonis, Duarte and a PHI 1st.
IND sends Sabonis+Duarte and receives Simmons+Thybulle
PHI sends Simmons+Thybulle+PHI 1st for Beal
This should be followed by trading away Harrell + other vets (KCP, Kuzma) for a reliable PG + whatever picks we can get.
Core going forward:
Reliable PG/Dinwiddie
Duarte/Kispert
Deni/Kispert
Rui/Bertans
Sabonis/Gafford/Bryant

You don't remember how many jumpers he bricked, played D when he wanted and didn't play off-ball at all? Yea, no thanks.
(Wall used to be my favorite player. So annoying they didn't develop/coach him properly.)
Getting Simmons for Beal would be awesome - but it's not gonna happen...

Well, I'm not gonna discuss about that... Stay optimistic, my friend.

A dream come true as a direct trade. But... dreams don't come true, alas, & Brad isn't worth all that.
Straight up for Simmons is likely do-able. Maybe (but only maybe) one other asset -- e.g. a R1 pick a couple of years from now.

It would bring much needed energy back to the team and the fanbase. Dinwiddie is slow, boring, unathletic, and he pounds the ball.

That makes some sense as far as it goes. But you miss something: Ben Simmons is worth more than Bradley Beal.
He is, overall, a significantly better NBA player.
He's younger.
He costs less.
He's tied up for several years.
For that reason, Philly would be far better off doing that deal directly w/ that rebuilding team like Sac'to that would want Simmons.
Then they could turn around & trade us most -- but not all -- of what they got for Simmons in return for Brad.
Now... Wizards fans might think that Brad is worth *more* than Simmons. That I'm wrong IOW.
That's certainly possible -- like anyone/everyone I've been wrong before! & Simmons may have lowered his own value that much with his attitude. But, I doubt it.

What's likely to happen when Beal opts out and then decides he wants to play for another team? Would a team clear the decks of salary to sign Beal or are they more likely to want Wiz to sign and trade him?

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
I am of the I pression that one if this situation never happens Philly wouldn't have even tried to trade Simmons. But I very much believe that this situation has ruined his value. Not just because of his attitude, but because of the situation. Something you have to sell demands a lower price than something you don't have to sell. Ultimately DM will blink and have to move him. Reports have already said they would move him for Beal, if that opened up. So in my mind the trade is fair. Beal and maybe another player to Philly, Simmons to a third team and assets and filler contracts to DC. I would rather do that because if, be either A doesn't come back as him self and still can't shoot or B he pulls this **** again. We won't get out value back out of him. Even if beals been struggling this year. Beal as a second option is still lan elite second option. He's on a not really good team trying to do it all pretty much while being the guy. Beal on a team like Philly, has value because he puts them over the edge. By a mile.payitforward wrote:gambitx777 wrote:payitforward wrote:Why can we get more for him than Philly can? Answer....

Only option then is a sign and trade. No one really has cap space this summer to sign him to the contract he desires.
Wizards have a lot of power they don't realize they have.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Ok so gambits block buster to be ignored of the day!
76ers :
Out - Simmons, Green, Springer, 2023 first.
In - Beal, Grant.
NO :
Out - Satoronsky, Lakers 2022 first (11-30, if not conveyed we don't get it, men does. We can add in that it becomes a second if we don't get it or something.)
In - Trez, KCP.
Hou :
Out - Wall, Porter Jr
In - Bertans and Olynyk
DET :
Out - Grant, Olynyk, Bey, Diallo, two 24 seconds and a 25 second round pick ( Sacs 2024 second and the more favorable of was and mem, 25 more favorable of Was and GSW. )
In - Simmons, Holiday, Gill, Porter Jr,
Wiz :
Out - Beal , Bertans, Trez, KCP, Holiday, Gill.
In - Wall, Green, Satoronsky, bey Diallo, Springer, Lakers 22 first if it falls in 11-30, 23 Philly first, two 24 seconds and a 25 second from DET.
Why?
76ers are instant contenders with this. Hands down, you can argue all you want about Simmons and how good he is. He's not gonna come back and add grant and Beal to embid and Harris right now. That's a tittle.
NO. Needs help all the way around really. Santos been awful this year and KCP and Trez add a lot to that team right now.
Hou. They break up walls massive deal in two smaller ones. Olynyk and Bertans have early termination options and why healthy can be solid vets around the young guys. They can rehab their value and flips them down the line. Kevib porters done in hou and this move spreads a good bit of money around for the rockets. And dumps wall. Pretty much for free.
Det. Well this is a less expensive version of an offer the 76ers reportedly turned down. Holiday and porter replace bey and Diallo even though they aren't as good but they dump olynyks contract. That team needs a star and Simmons can be that. Maybe he wants to be treated like the god, and in det he will be. They can trade any firsts until the records are set for years with that stupid protection they placed on that pick going to OKC.
Wiz get a first, 3 seconds and some young players for Beal he get some room away from the tax and the wiz dump bertans contract with minimal cost to us. Not to mention we turn Trez and KCP into a late first. You cut Green and Satoronsky. You try to work something out with wall if you can so you can attempt to rehab some value off of him to trade him in the summer or if he really wants out just cut him out right and eat the money with almost 20 mill coming off the books in green and satos deals in the summer you can afford to be a rebuilding team with young players and eat 45 mill of dead cap for 1 year if you have too.

I’m sure the Zards realize/know what power they do and do not have as it relates Beal.

I just do the New Orleans part and cut everyone else out.
I'd then shop Beal. If all I got was Simmons and nothing else, that would still be better than this deal.

I've seen Hawks are looking for first round pick and starter for John Collins. Do we need him & do we have what to give them in exchange? John Collins is very good. Maybe Dinwiddie plus Bertans? Plus Harrell and Gill? (Dinwiddie's value rn might not be that good). I wonder if we can give them something good.
