Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
I'm glad for Stanley, but really to be in a situation where he's glad to be on a minimum contract after getting passed around on 10 days? For the #8 pick in the draft and he's only 25 years old?
Can you imagine tanking an entire year for Stanley Johnson? I'm glad we're off the tank train.

No he fell off a cliff in the playoffs last year. His surprise season was what was shocking imho.
yeah, last year he out of the blue became a terrific 3 pt. shooter and really good passer. the 3 pt shooting began to desert him at the tail end of last season and hasn't returned this season. the passing isn't as good either

Call me crazy but Knicks really really really miss D-Rose and his leadership. He was their arguably the best player last year and this year until he got injured. Randle was getting all good stats last year but D-Rose was everything for them.
This year, Randle sucks and pretty much every game, knicks fans are ready to trade him - even if it's bag of chips (not serious). Randle is mentally as times as weak as Vuc and it shows on the court. Which in turn affects other players and it shows. When Rose was playing, their bench was the reason they were winning games but without Rose, they just have hard time winninng.
I still think if Rose returns soon, they can start winning again. Remember they were tied with us in the beginning of the season for the best record in the East.
well...the knicks did start 5-1, but half those games were against the magic and pelicans. they beat the mediocre celtics in double OT, the sixers in a game where embiid was awful, and the bulls in the game where pat williams went down for the season

I'm glad we're off the "tank train" too.
That year (2015 draft) the Bulls picked the better player at #22 (Portis), even though things didn't work out for him here.

Who would have thought he would be a massive overpay?
Atlanta didn't want to resign him last season but then they had the ECF run and they had their hands forced. This doesn't shock me at all.

per 36:
derozan 27/5/5, 58% TS (contract age 32-34)
collins 19/9/2, 63% TS (contract age 24-28)
collins is paid a bit less and he's the better defender (not that he's good on that end), derozan has been clutch this year but hardly known for it previously. so derozan's contract is this huge bargain and collins's is a "massive overpay"? hogwash. atlanta overachieved last season and is just looking for a scapegoat for their regression. collins is the same guy

I truly love all these "announcements" by the Lakers saying what they won't give up after being rejected. So Lakers of them. You got nothing to trade outside of THT

Is Oubre the new S-Jax? Journeyman with inconsistencies who just blows up for 39 point games? Kind of wouldn't mind having that type of guy instead of Coby, if we're talking 6th man. Just taller and older.

He is the same guy. And not worth the money. I didn't think he was worth it to begin with. The comparison with DD isn't that great. He's not a shot creator like demar. Also 8 ppg difference is pretty big....

Comparing true shooting percentages here is just ridiculous. DeRozan creates most of his points for himself, Collins is a pure play finisher. You absolutely cannot make a case that Collins has been as good as DeRozan this season. One is going to be an All-Star starter, the other is not even in the discussion to make the team.
Teams should really prepare to max out Javale McGee (67% TS) this offseason, right?

Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
Collins is overpaid pure and simple. He got paid because of the playoff run and his youth. Collins scores in transition, pick and roll and pick and pop. This means he gets points and easy looks off someone elses creation, not creating anything for himself or teammates. You can't have a guy in Collins as I guess your second-best player not be someone you feel you can run the offense through.
What's frustrating at times about some of these Derozan takes particularly from the analytics side is that his numbers with the Spurs were good. He was saddled with a team in transition especially with Aldridge's decline and trying to carry a team that was going young.

Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

Question: If (most likely) Durant is going to miss the all-star game, would that make Lavine a great possibility to start at the all-star game???

Shame we couldn’t keep Stanley Johnson around. It was bad timing on both parties.
He would’ve been a very useful defender for us in a low usage role. Similar to JaVonte.

Oh I know, but he's certainly found a role in GS as a glue guy. Wiggins alone has ended up finding himself to be a better player than DLo IMO and then a top 10 pick on top of that.

I really wanted him. I hated it when we let him go and signed McKinney and then Hill. I was like Stanley already knows our system and he was with us at the training camp and preseason. He already had good chemistry with everyone.
That was a head scratcher move by AKME.
