the funny part is in one yr wiggins becomes the worst contract to the best and curry vice versa.
and people are saying steph developed wiggins to all star he somehow gets all the credit.

curry is shooting 35% from corner 3s and 0 dunks this yr you could argue wiggins is a better overall player. looking forward to 2025 season when curry is making 60 freaking million dollars.

Great stat--Steph has 0 dunks, and that's a big strike against him.

He may be onto something. Pretty sure Steph dunked in each of his MVP seasons.

We're so close to Lebron writing an open letter about how he's looking forward to returning to the all star game and listing all the players that he's excited to play with except for Wiggins who's a notable omission followed by the West team making an announcement a few days later that AD will be filling in for Wiggins.

I skimmed through the thread and assumed someone would've mentioned it, but in addition to the fan voting which obviously benefited Wiggins, he also got 5th place among PLAYER VOTING.

So he likely got sympathy votes from his fellow players (he's been around a long time now) because they realize he's been a pretty maligned guy all these years. You can call it sympathy/pity votes from his peers, but it looks like he's pretty well liked among players....and all-star voting is basically a popularity contest, so it is what it is.

It's a testament to the Warriors' fan base. A few years back, Zaza was a top vote getter.

As for Wiggins starting, if you look at the frontcourt top vote getters, it became a process of elimination. Paul George is out, AD missed 17 games, optically having Draymond as a starter when he's avg. 8 ppg is a bad look plus he's injured, Towns, Gobert and Ayton are all centers and Jokic is already starting. So, if you break it down like that, Wiggins being the starter kind of made sense.

Which one do you want them to replace, Curry or Morant?

Or maybe they think Wiggins deserved their votes, since, you know, they actually play against him.

The players, the media and the fans all voted Curry and Morant as the consensus 1 and 2?

No one votes for two or three centers in starting five. So Jokic/Gobert/KAT/Ayton eliminate each other.

Forwards

Zion missed all season
Kawhi missed all season
George missed 24 games and counting
Green missed 16 games and counting
Davis missed 20 games
Porzingis missed 16 games

Who is left? Bridges? Ingram? Nah Wiggs is better.

This is probably mostly the reason. Wiggins isn't a top 6 forward in the West when everyone's healthy, but they aren't, he has been, they probably werent going to have 2 Cs, and Wiggins is having his best season to date. Perfect storm really.

But the players and media also putting him in is a big deal. A lot of posters cant handle that.. everyone is wrong except them and their perceptions of Wiggins. Admittedly when I and some other W's fans came here early last year and talked about much better Wiggins looked - not just the jersey switch, but the defense and the shooting - it was handwaved off. It doesn't appear to have gotten much better here, but fans, players and media have definitely all come around.

And sure, the W's fanbase helps. But it didnt help Wiggins last year (7th, ahead of Wood, Ingram and Melo) so the increase is due to less competition (due to injury) and the perception of Wiggins changing around the league. Eventually the GB will catch up

Well deserved given the injuries and all, he played well for us on both sides of the court and he earned it. His defense is impressive. Almost as impressive as your hate for the dude.

I love seeing you all foaming at the mouth here for a meaningless event like ASG.

Speaking of complaints, surprised we don't have a thread yet for this.

Who did it best?

Honestly, Wiggins has been having a great season so its not all that bad, in another timeline where Kawhi, among other top forwards arent sidelined he wouldnt be there but honestly I will give credit where its due, he has been having a great season and GSW did help turn his career around.

Has anyone actually ever told Wiggins he's not very good?
Because as far as he knows:
1st pick
ROTY
Max contract
All Star

It really doesn't get much better than that. He probably thinks he's really **** good, and I don't blame him.

The fact that people are complaining about him, who has played excellently this year on both ends of the court and Demar, who is playing at his best and has a number of starts under his belt, is truly headscratching

Just the perfect example of why the All Star game is pointless trash and that using All Star selections when comparing players/legacy is flawed.

So the media voted Wiggins ahead of Luka? I read in the Mavs forum that Luka didn't actually receive a single vote from the media.
