The GOAT retires.

EDIT at 5:07 EST: Brady may not be retiring and Sheffter might have jumped the gun.

He was still productive. He didn’t need to set any more longevity records just went out before he became washed

No one has seen a player dominate their sport like Brady since Jordan. Going to probably be another 20 years until someone else comes along. GOAT.

It's going to be interesting to see how his legacy holds as time goes on. QB's are going to be lasting much longer than guys from the 80s/90s partly due to the rules created to help Tom & other star QBs keep playing.

7 super bowls will be tough to touch but in terms of peak performances in the playoffs, I definitely can see his record getting challenged as he already doesn't have many peak performances in terms of stats. We all know how this works -- future generations won't have seen the games and will see his inferior stats to other players. That's what happened to Unitas etc.

Whoever was supposed to cover Kupp on those final plays should be ashamed. Cost Brady another superbowl.

I have no memory of a NFL where Brady was not an elite QB, so it's hard for me to grasp the concept of a NFL where he's not slinging touchdowns on playoff teams.

Those rule changes were actually enacted to help Brady's rival Peyton Manning after the Patriots kept shutting him and his receivers down in the playoffs

It's not going to hold up...like at all. The current younger generations are ALREADY saying Patrick Mahomes has passed him. Just imagine 5 years from now. It will be like Tom Who?

Wonder if LeBron will announce his retirement 1 year early so he can get a farewell tour unlike Brady

ofc not. Dude's one of the most talented if not the most talented QB we've ever seen, and he's about to be in 4 straight conference championships in 4 years. I despise using team success for GOAT especially in the NFL, but taking into account individual and team success, Mahomes has started his career better than anyone before him. If he gets up to 3 or 4 superbowl wins (which is impossible to forecast), he'll get in that discussion very quickly.

Gonna be interesting this year tho. Cinci can put up points and both Rams/49ers pressure the hell out of a QB. Theyre fav's right now, but the Rams are scary
