On VORP, Gary Payton II ranks slightly higher than Wiggins, with half as many minutes played this season. But maybe GP will make the All Star game as well. After all, he's a Warrior.

Not that I really care, it's an exhibition game and my team got its starter, but if I were a Suns fan and my team was better last year than the Dubs and better this year than the Dubs, and the Warriors keep getting all these All Star starters and my guys never did, I would wonder ... if your players are so effing good, then why is my team better?

But since I am not a Suns fan, I will leave that question to them.

If you were a Suns fan, which Suns player do you think should have been a starter over which Warriors player?

You know what man, I've given a lot of stuff to Wiggins over the years, but I've always wanted to see guys succeed, it's very rare that I actively root for someone's failure, and it happens less the older I get.

Good for him. I really doubt someone like Chris Paul with a million all star appearances really cares anyway. For real, props to Wiggins, and glad to see him settling into a role where he's above a normal role player even if he's not a superstar #1 talent.

Hope we will all enjoy Wiggins in all star.
He has to take part in dunk contest and 3pt contest. I am sure he can put up a big show in dunk contest

As for Wiggins starting, if you look at the frontcourt top vote getters, it became a process of elimination. Paul George is out, AD missed 17 games, optically having Draymond as a starter when he's avg. 8 ppg is a bad look plus he's injured, Towns, Gobert and Ayton are all centers and Jokic is already starting. So, if you break it down like that, Wiggins being the starter kind of made sense.

This is probably mostly the reason. Wiggins isn't a top 6 forward in the West when everyone's healthy, but they aren't, he has been, they probably werent going to have 2 Cs, and Wiggins is having his best season to date. Perfect storm really.

But the players and media also putting him in is a big deal. A lot of posters cant handle that.. everyone is wrong except them and their perceptions of Wiggins. Admittedly when I and some other W's fans came here early last year and talked about much better Wiggins looked - not just the jersey switch, but the defense and the shooting - it was handwaved off. It doesn't appear to have gotten much better here, but fans, players and media have definitely all come around.

And sure, the W's fanbase helps. But it didnt help Wiggins last year (7th, ahead of Wood, Ingram and Melo) so the increase is due to less competition (due to injury) and the perception of Wiggins changing around the league. Eventually the GB will catch up

I just disagree with this completely. This is why I said before that people need to stop using the AS Game as a way to prop their guy up or to put somebody down. Wiggins got in because casual fans are allowed to vote. Most casual fans are fans of the Warriors because of their legendary runs and because of the fact that they're on TV what feels like at least twice a week.

Asia loves Curry and the Warriors. They got an insanely popular KPop star to promote the Warriors players. Fangirls will literally do anything for stars like that.

Wiggins maybe should've been the 12th man in the West thanks to all the injuries out in the West. But he absolutely should not have been a starter over Gobert or Towns.

Finally, when only one fanbase is saying he deserved it, then he didn't deserve it. There are some isolated people from different fanbases saying they're fine with it, but it's been mostly 29 fanbases saying it was an awful selection and only 1 saying it was justified. The 1 fanbase being the only one with bias for Wiggins. I mean, there are so many Warriors fans that Zaza Pachulia almost made a mockery of the game a few seasons ago.

A solid role player made it into the All-Star Game.

I'm pretty sure the GB was outed a couple of weeks ago when there was a thread about how many poster actually watch the games, it was quite low, with most just looking at box scores or highlights.

The players vote had Wiggins 5th and the Media had him 6th. That's not Warriors fans, that's his peers and the national media.

Maybe Utah and the TWolves should do a better job of promoting their players if they want them to rank higher with the fans.

Exactly. I believe the only wing who got more votes from the players this year in the west was LeBron. It was a perfect storm and I fully believe he deserved it as a reserve.

Again, the players and media also voted Gobert correctly over Wiggins as well. Also again, the Warriors are on TV every single week. The Jazz and Wolves aren't. It has to do with their legendary runs in the past, market size, and Stephen Curry. That means more casual fans voted him in while Gobert and Towns didn't make it in the top 5 in the fan vote.

They got it wrong, plain and simple. The Jazz and Wolves fanbases are among the smallest in the NBA. The Warriors have by far one of the biggest. It had nothing to do with marketing, and everything to do with the casuals knowing who the Warriors are.

I voted for Wiggy. Fight me :x

I never vote for the boys club personally. It's just ASG, who cares. It's not that serious, it's all for fun.

At least GS is getting some PR return on that gigantic luxury tax bill.

Not really. If you watched him, hes much more consistent, better shoot % and 3pt %. His defense is also on a different level compare to when at Minny. The biggest knock on him ( according to Minny fans) was hes inconsistent and for every 30 pts game he will follow with 10 horrible games which is not true atm. Hes currently the 2nd option for the warriors, the next guy is Poole, scoring 16 pts a game while shooting 44% fg and 34% 3pts which are both lower than Wiggins.

While a lot of what you say is true, very little of it counters my assertion that Wiggins hasn't really changed. The better shooting % is largely because Steph is such an amazing shooter and draws so much attention. Wiggins is where he was always supposed to be - playing behind a much better player (soon to be 2 much better players) rather than carrying a team like a #1 should. He's a good player for you guys, and that's fine. We'll see how essential he becomes once Klay is at full speed.

But the idea that the guy is NOW an All-Star because he's asked to do less - and because he's in a much larger market - is what I'm objecting to. It's not quite as egregious as the Zaza thing, but that doesn't mean it makes any sense at all.

 Okay, it makes sense now. Sheesh....Maybe we can get O-Zone to endorse Wiggy next year and bring in the Moldovan vote. This *&$% league....SMDH.

In all seriousness, Wiggy's always seemed like a decent guy, so hats off to him. But he's the same guy he was in MN. The only difference is that he's on a big market CA team now so RealGM (edit) posters don't start biweekly threads thrashing the dude.

Guess also in which year Wiggins has played his best basketball on the by far best team he's ever been on. Wiggins got 3.5 million votes – now compare that to the number of direct retweets and it becomes obvious that Wiggins was generally just a popular player that people voted for.

NBA players had Wiggins 5th in their votes.
Bam Bam maybe voted instead of NBA players.

The fact that many of you do not like Wiggins does not mean that he had all of his votes from KPop musicians or actors or alliens.
How many votes did he received from Bam Bam?
50.000?100.000?200.000?
That's it.
Wiggins had 3.5 million votes and that means that there are many people like him. He is popular you like it or not.

He is an NBA all star starter and he is selected with the same way all NBA all star starters have been selected the last years

We will enjoy him in all star game as the rest of players.

Exactly. Bambam doesn't play in the NBA, and Wiggins was 5th in player votes. Looks like it is too difficult for some folks to understand.

Or maybe the NBA players voted for Wiggins because Bambam told them to!
