Best player on best team might be the laziest of the lazy arguments when there are so many other factors in play.

because the Hawks never had the best record. What year did they have the best record in the league?

Best record in the east is what I meant. But the Hawks were an afterthought for those awards. Phoenix ends up with the best record and Monty gets his COTY but that’ll be it. They are a two star team with an ensemble of role players. Jazz and Miami are similarly built. Those types of teams rarely have MVP awards granted to them despite great team success

Well you can actually put your money on Curry at +310 if you feel so strongly. I wouldn't though.

Also, finish the season on a 50 point triple double and hit a ridiculous game winning 3.

Westbrook went nuts to end that season. Harden was going to win until Russ went out of control.

I get the sense most people don't have anything like that in their mind when they speak of it. It seems to me most people simply look at it as a ranking issue in a conference, and maybe some arbitrary amount of wins total.

Russ was making stupid shots to win games and all sorts that season. He was in the news every second day. That was an all narrative all day season and there was the 30/10/10 behind it. Dude took up all the oxygen in the room all the time.

His advanced metrics did at up as well that season though. I was still watching most OKC games at that time. He did have a valid case (as did Kawhi and Harden). Ultimately it was the triple double narrative combined with an absurd closing week with that 50 point triple double game winner on ESPN that secured the bag. I wasn’t mad at the choice, it was a carry job.

So embiid has got the sixers to 1.5 games out of first place. They are currently tied for 3rd place with Cleveland. 27-11 with embiid. Outside of Covid 9 games missed. Embiid has been healthy.

Look I don’t think the sixers will make it out of the second round (that’s assuming they can make it out of the first round). But embiid is literally carrying the team.

I don’t think any trades for Simmons will change the outcome of the sixers season either (the reported players coming in for Simmons)

So i dont think it’s a wasted season for embiid. He’s played in 21 straight games? He’s been healthy. Missed only 2 non Covid related games.

Giannis vs Jokic tomorrow could be huge.

Giannis and Joker will probably cancel each other, while the Bucks win. I don’t see the Nuggets winning this.

Why isn’t it Steph?

He keeps leading his team to victories even without their second most impactful player being around.

He looks awful out there but his impact on the floor is still palpable and he’s the blueprint for the team to execute against. Him being a bum, missing shots, and a few head scratching turnovers don’t mean anything’s changed. There is a reason they keep winning and it’s because he’s the Sun with planets orbiting. You could lose a planet or two but he’s irreplaceable. He’s just not in solar flare mode.

To be honest Curry is still 2nd in EPM and 5th in VORP after having like 1 good game in over a month. I wonder what it'll take for him to really start dropping down the rankings in these stats.

True. Hey guys why can't we give it to the player who still has the gravy and the team spirit! This is so wrong!

The Jazz are now 1-7 without Rudy Gobert playing.

29-13 with him.

Embiid is the MVP no doubt about it. The Sixers are 27-11 when he plays and he now has the Sixers in the 3rd seed and they are ascending.

Can Luka get back in this race?

Mavs rolling.

And he seems to pick it up during second half of season.

Because he is having a subpar season by his standards while Jokic and Embiid are simultaneously play out of their absolute minds

Subpar season by Steph's standards is still better than MVP Nash. It only goes to show that Steph should have been winning more MVPs in previous years.
