Then add in the fact that Bobby also shoots 3s, and makes only $4m, and it gets a bid cloudy.

a 7-3 Center who could shoot the three and pass the ball as well as any guard in the 90s? YEAH he was way ahead of his generation talented.

That said, just watching some of the clips of Arvydas, that dude could have legitimately been a top 3 center during the 80's to 90's. Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing.

He is a 2x all star and probably won’t make the team again for the next couple of years.

I’d bet good money he doesn’t make the hall of fame

His dad came over at 30 with an absolutely busted leg and looked like his boots were filled with concrete and still showed he was more then a handy player.

Plus when will people absolutely realise there isnt an "NBA hall of fame" Its the Naismith Memorial Hall of fame" Arvydas accomplished much more then Domantas will in basketball

What he did on the court?

5 titles
6 time euro player of the year (USSR league had no MVP)
2 time MVP of ACB
Gold medal at the olympics
Eurobasket title
2 bronze medals for Lithuania

Where is he lacking success? He won MVP's, Titles, a Gold medal for his country, Euro basket MVP's. Talent doesnt make the greatest Euro ever, But denying Sabonis' success is crap dude

Arvydas is the greatest euro of all time imo and it isn't particularly close.

Dude i did watch Sabonis from 1986.
Sabonis didn't start playing basketball in the NBA you know. He had a whole career before that.
He was the best player in any competition, he dominated every big man that stood in his way.

Love Dirk, love Giannis and Jokic, i was in awe with Drazen and Galis, i admired Pau.
None of them came close to what Sabonis was.
The best big ever. So simple.
Basketball isn't NBA alone.
Some of the greatest international players ever, didn't even cross the Atlantic.

And Dirk had far longer and far more productive one.

Arvydas was best CCCP player of all time since he was 18 years old probably, and he was beast in Europe at age 41. he had 25 year carrer at pro level. Its really a shame he was injury prone and didnt join Blazers in 86, and even tho his legend is overrated, he was ridiculous international player at least still, as a person, who saw pretty much every Domantas SAbonis Lithuanian national team game at this point, his father was so much better at that, its lightyears landslide, not even close, and Domantas is 6'10 old school 2 time NBA all star. Its really a shame Arvydas was stuck in Spain and Lithuania with nothing less to prove, dominating chumps, as I said, man if he joined that 86 Blazers, we would have talked about them as a dynasty. Blazers is cursed team, seriously.

Arvydas is the reason every other Lithuanian player wears number 11, just like Jordan is the reason why every American kid wants to wear 23, or every Croatian kid wanting to wear 44, his what if legend might be overrated, but he was legit.

People who compare Sabonis to Bobby Portis are probably also the same people who compare Reggie Miller to Kyle Korver

It's a shame we never got his father in the NBA in his prime. Arvydas would probably be top 10 all time

Arvidas was god but people experienced the 31 years old version who i think had injury issues too. He dominated the european leagues in ways nobody has since.

Not sure if he was the best, but I’d put him in the top 5 of all times. Dirk, Yiannis, Petrovic Galis are probably the other 4. Then you have your divac, kukoc, diamantidis, parkers etc.

I´ve been saying that for years. He is easily the best player ever in europe. He could pass like the best of them, could score at will on anyone, was fast, agile, defended like hell, and was as unstopable a player as i ever saw.

And i HATED him. Barcelona fan here, and he played for the rival R.Madrid. You had to watch him play pre-injury... Madness.

His kid looks cool and all, a really good player. But his dad was the best of the best.

Dirk is the best euro who played in the NBA. But gun to my head pick one, no injuries, both at their peak? I Pick Sabonis no hesitation.
No disrespect to Dirk, i loved watching his career.

He was not better than Hakeem, probably better than Robinson and for sure better than Ewing IMO. The NBA and basketball fans in general were robbed of one of the best talents to ever play. He was incredible.
