Re: Randle Trade Talk
I'm sure this has been discussed already, just want to get everyone's take on it ---
Randle to Atlanta straight up for John Collins.
I think that's probably one of, if not the most realistic potential trades involving Randle being talked about.
If I'm the Knicks, I think I do that deal. The salaries look about the same (I think Collins' deal is actually more team favorable over the life of the deal, esp. toward the end), Collins is about 3 years younger, just as big, almost as skilled overall, and MUCH MORE efficient (Collins has a game where he doesn't need to be the focal point like Randle--instead, he can blend in and put up numbers/also play with anyone whereas I don't think Randle can).
Ran this by by buddy and pretty much got the "hell no" response -- he thinks Randle's worth more than that...Perfect world, of course you'd want more in return, but considering how far Randle's game has fallen off plus the attitude problems/thin skin tendencies he's now shown, I think you take this deal and run... Taking a good look at Collins' game and him as a player -- sorry but he's very underrated...nice player.

Re: Randle Trade Talk
Trading for another PF like Collins (who is on the books until 2026) would never work for the same reason Randle is going to get traded, the fans want Toppin to start and we will never be able to move on as an organization one way or the other until he does and we can say definitively if he’s the answer at starting PF or not. Maybe if they shut down Randle for the rest of the season a-la Simmons and start Toppin the rest of the way and it turns out Toppin sucks and we keep losing, maybe then they can get away with a trade for Collins in the offseason. But I just don’t see it working out

Re: Randle Trade Talk
Westbrook for Randle, Fournier and Kemba? It might help the Lakers be a better playoff team and I'll claw my eyes out having to watch Brodie but I'm down for it.
Sad part is it might actually help the Knicks be better and ruin draft positioning for the next two drafts because Westbrook is an actual star player even if he's a flawed one.

Take back Westbrook and whatever cheap contract that makes the roster size work out. Then maybe you can buy out Westbrook next year or just play him. it doesn’t matter because next year is also a wasted season and we will be tanking again
Next year doesn’t have to be a wasted season! If the Knicks use common sense they can get back pieces and continue the development of this team.
Well they can always shut down Westbrook like the rockets did with John wall and then draft someone with the top 10 pick they are about to get and then play all their younger players and tank again. It’s only wasted in terms of if you want the team to win which isn’t going to happen again for a very long time
You want to trade for $44 million in salary to bench him and try to get a top 10 pick?

A Westbrook trade would ruin this team. RUIN it

The fact that so many people are down for it makes me think ya’ll love the misery.

Wait... this team isn't in ruins as it is? Hm
Pardon me while I do some deep research on the statistical analysis of the Knicks to finish this song I'm writing...

For all of his faults, isnt westbrook a super good playmaker which is something this team desperately needs? It would be one thing if we were close to competing for a championship but we arent.

He’s not a $44 million good playmaker.

The Lakers will probably get Fox, Sactown Randle and the Knicks Westbroke.
Lakers get better, get a young asset for the future, Knicks and Sactown get worse with the Knicks getting the worst part of the trade
Perry advocates for the trade, Dolan endorses it, Aller quits. Kenny Payne leaves for Louisville. Westbrook to the Knicks.

Not perry's style, Perry wants players that used to play for him. Reclamation projects if you will.

True. Knicks will get Fox and it will cost Randle and their remaining extra pick.
Since Perry as Asst VP of basketball ops when Fox was selected by Sactown. Something like that. Someone posted the exact title.

Anybody with eyes could see this. This is what has shattered Thibs' credibility (and what JVG called out last night).
What did JVG say exactly?

you don't get westbrook because you think he'll help. the only reason is to dump longer contracts so this ends sooner.

you don't win in this league with good or even very good. you win with great. (I wish Leon knew that last summer, hopefully he does now)
there are no great players out there that we're getting for randle.
any deal that isn't for a shorter contract is a bad deal. which is why Westbrook actually makes sense.

It would have nothing to do with Westbrook's pros and cons as a player and everything to do with him only having one more year under contract vs. four more for Randle
It is a player option year that he will obviously invoke

That is too much money to do a reset in the 2023 FA marker. Beal is the only star FA under the age of 35 (maybe Andrew Wiggins
