Shamet got hurt. Seems like he went back to the locker room.

Last thing we need is another injury right now, particularly to our guard rotation, but maybe it pushes JJ to make a move sooner than later.

Didn't notice we haven't played Stix at all this game.

Back in Monty's doghouse?

Also what the heck is wrong with these refs?

Only one foul called on the Spurs this quarter with 4 called against the Suns, that last non call is pretty much the exact same call Klay got last night and he was awarded the foul call.

Ugh. This is a lot closer than I'd like.

Why are we playing small ball lineup?

I'll take it. There was some pucker factor there at the end but a win is a win.

Spurs were getting anything they wanted in PnRs with our 5-man playing drop-ish so going small let them just switch everything. It also opened up some extra space on offense.

We were really lucky in this one. I'm super relieved we won. But our energy was really lackadaisical up until the last few minutes. Almost like we were looking ahead too much. Our 3 pt defense, team rebounding, defensive rotations and communication were really poor. I really hope that this is a wake-up call to Jones regarding the legitimate depth on our bench when not carried by heavy minutes from our starters. We just can't keep playing our starters such heavy minutes as they're already starting to burn out a bit at times. These young Spurs are well-coached. But this should've really been a game wherein WE actually controlled the tempo and built a solid margin so that our starters could rest more! We need to upgrade our bench.

Down single digits in the 4th, I have pretty high confidence we'd win and that's exactly what we did. It's where we're at right now

Didn't like seeing Shamet hurt his ankle...hopefully it's not too bad cos he really can't catch a break with covid earlier.

Also that small ball lineup with Ish was kinda fun. Not sure it would work in most games though

Why does our game plan have Elf taking seven shots? Three of which are three pointers? Pretty soon our offense will have Biz and McGee taking threes as well. Thank goodness for Bridges shooting 11-16.

Why does our offense have Payton there in the first place? He is either running the point, or on the bench, its just that simple. Playing him with Paul, and Paul running the offense, is a complete waste. I like Payton, but he can't shoot at all. But playing him at shooting guard is the dumbest move we have done in our offense. Hell, just have him set back pick after back pick, and he only shoots if he is at the hoop.

By "out there" I mean the three point line. I get that we need him to run the point. But having him play with CP3, is not having Elf play backup point guard, its having him play third string shooting guard.
We shouldn't have Payne playing shooting guard either. But we are often playing Payton with CP3 or with Payne, and then Paul and Payne are running the offense. It leaves Payton to be stuck waiting at the three point line because that is our offense, stand and wait. And then CP or Book dribble out the shot clock, and who is probably the most open guy? Payton, because everyone knows he can't shoot. And when he drives, we aren't having forward follow his path to clean up any misses, because all the rest of our guys are standing at the three point line waiting. Elf can only run point and play defense. He can't shoot threes, and his mid floaters are not going in either. Leaving him waiting at the three for a pass is like leaving Robin Lopez at the three with his back to the hoop (which we did a lot), a waste of a possession.

This was the whole reason we got Shamet, so we didn't have to play a point guard at shooting guard.

Time to Waive Kaminsky and Payton so we can add Holiday ( two 2nds), and Mclemore (cash). Both players shooting around 40% from three. Then we just look to add a 3rd rotation guard option from the buyout pool, or in unrestricted free agency. Really any of:
Ryan Arciandicono, Mario Chalmers,Darren Collison, Quinn Cook, Matt Delladova, Jeff Teague would suffice on a two-way or vets minimum perhaps? :D

Are we? And why would he want to come back here? He said bad things about our organization, and I don't think he likes Sarver. Can he even play anymore?

Why keep Nader though? It was just a week or so ago where he wasn't even running 1 on 1 drills. Waive all our crap baggage and bring back Jackson. He could knock down shots. Get the league to allow Tyreke back in the league, and tell the league that CP3 will babysit him for the rest of the season.
