They are completely different situations. You cannot compare what Masai did last year to this year.

And 7-11 range isn't crap. It all depends on the type of team you have. If it was crap then every 7-11 team would be pulling the plug and tanking every year. But they don't and they don't because they know there is value in making the playoffs.

I absolutely agree that it's a waste of time if you're a team with a core of 30 something year old players. That's a team that needs to be blown up. Fortunately, that's not the case for us.

I dont think you understand the context since just last year, masai stealth tanked after sitting 9-11. Unforunutely that range is no mans land and if you ask any organization if they rather be top 5/bottom 5 or 7/11 range, they would chose the former (even miami) and raps as they are now in year 1 of their rebuild.

Again this will come down to the deadline to see how much we can add to the bench. If we get a few nice pieces and keep playing at a high level, they’ll keep pushing. But in march if we are 9-10th,the team isnt going to run these guys in ground still and will play the rookies more.

We've made tremendous strides in the rebuilding process through organic growth and have accelerated the timeline to have an opportunity to play the playin and possibly the playoffs.

Yes we just have to keep bench at 0 mins rest of the season and have a 6 men rotation and sneaked into the playoffs. Then next season, we can save money by not getting a bench, and keep playing 6 men rotations - the money saved can be used to locked up FVV at 30M x 4 and GTJ 25M x 4. If they are used to avg 40mins in the regular season, they can play 48mins in the playoffs.

MIami has recruited guys like Lebron James/Chris Bosh/Jimmy Butler even Shaq wanted to play with Wade. Lowry wanted to go to Miami. Its one of the top free agent destinations in the NBA, the Raptors not so much.

Top 10 picks - Andrew Wiggins-Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid-Aaron Gordan-Dante Exum-Marcus Smart-Julius Randle-Noah Vonleh-Nik Stauskas-Elfrid Payton. Outside of Embiid, I dont see any cornerstone players. What I do see is A LOT of scrubs.

4. Lets also ignore the fact that getting Barnes was a result of injuries + covid + tampa + winning the lottery when there were 70% odds against the Raptors winning the lottery.

5. Lets ignore the fact TWO was pushing hard for another tank before this season even began.

TWO needs to stop thinking in binary and be more flexible. The ability to think dynamically based on changing information and circumstances is what the best run teams in the NBA are able to do. Building a contender can be done in many different ways.

Going after Philly when they have a top 5 player and MVP isn’t a great strategy.

Tanking worked and now they have to execute to win a title.

If they made better draft selections they could have been even better, but Fultz, Noel, MCW, and Okafor were just misses on their part.
