Well damn, I just went to see what the fuss about Robert Malone was.

If anyone bothered to read the amazing summary posted a few pages back that recounted the history of the mRNA vaccine, you can easily see that no one individual “invented” mRNA, yet this guy was using this claim to puff himself up and promote disinformation. He appears to have been involved in the critical juncture when lipids were discovered to be a key factor in formulating a delivery solution, but it was just one of many intermediary steps to the mRNA tech that exists now.

He is seeking fame and he has no qualms about spreading manure on Fox News and Info Wars and Joe Rogan

In June, he tweeted that a study showed that for every three lives the vaccines saved, they caused two deaths. But the journal that published the study later appended a note to it calling its main conclusion incorrect, and then retracted it entirely.

The same month, PolitiFact rated False a video featuring Malone that claimed the spike proteins generated after vaccination are toxic to cells. Other fact-checkers debunked his related claim in another video that the spike proteins often cause irreparable damage to children’s vital organs.

Malone has also suggested that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines might actually be making the coronavirus more dangerous and that the Pfizer vaccine was not fully approved.

And he said on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s radio show that the vaccines "created a whole huge bunch of super spreaders. So the truth is, it's the unvaccinated that are at risk from the vaccinated." That’s False.

I know I gave up a long time ago to debate with people who refuse to deal with facts or reality. You will rarely see me arguing with some people because it's a waste of time and effort, you're not going to change their minds. I respect those of you who at least make the attempt, but in the end, I believe it's a losing battle.

I put most of the blame for all this misinformation squarely on the shoulders of the entertainment side of Fox, because they have such a large platform and audience, they spew lies and propaganda on a daily basis, which in the end is not only killing democracy but also their viewers, literally.

"New York City is seeing a “rapid decline” in Covid-19 cases as it begins to emerge from the surge driven by the Omicron variant, Mayor Eric Adams announced Sunday.

But the latest wave has had a grim toll: More than 2,300 New Yorkers have died of the coronavirus in the month of January alone."

So positive news, sort of. Cases declining, but deaths seem to be rising.

Oh and BTW, still trying to milk a false correlation between the dangers of the flu and covid is just bad faith politics as usual. When you will lose a million people in the U.S. to covid in a little over two years it is not the same as losing tens of thousands a year to the flu which the endemic remnant of a century old pandemic. A bad flu kills 30-40,000 in a year.
Covid kills 500,000 in a year.

What often gets lost in the context of COVID deaths is that deaths are that high despite masking, social distancing, working from home and completely changing the our way of life. Just imagine if we’d done what some lunatics wanted to do and just open up and let COVID just raw dog the country. It’s safe to say you’d see 50-100% more deaths and this isn’t even counting the deaths from people who couldn’t get life saving surgery or ICU beds because it’s flooded with COVID patients.

What also gets lost is the denominator on actual people infected and never knew they had it or got tested or were symptomatic is an order of magnitude higher than positive tests. But that would derail the narrative that this is deadly to healthy 30 year olds or kids. Widespread antibody testing to get representative samples to see how rampant it actually was in let's say New York in Winter 2020 is very hard because it requires a blood test. The saliva based antibody test is pretty close and could really help get some picture of herd resiliency (I won't use immunity here).

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, “Jump in, I can save you.”

The stranded fellow shouted back, “No, it’s OK, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me.”

So the rowboat went on.

It’s less about dunking on these guys and more of a cautionary tale about misinformation. A lot of people buy into this garbage and the outcome can lead to death. Plain and simple, people are killing themselves over something stupid. And they’re taking down other people with them.

It's irritating.

Compare the life expectancy today to 200 years ago. It is about twice as long, so that means, they must have had no 80 year olds back then, right?

NO. The reason life expectancy back then was so much less is really mulitfactorial, but one of the largest components was the vast numbers of childhood deaths. Surviving to adulthood was difficult, and families had to have a large number of children to keep the family blood line going.

One of the largest factors -- this is mentioned above but must repeat -- is nearly universal vaccination for children.

If you don't like it, want to bring back smallpox, anyone?

— A mother of two who was swept away by the current after jumping through a hole in the ice of a frozen river — doing all this in front of her two kids
