I feel badly for Ingles and Utah. It sucked watching that knee buckle.

I meaning looking at the top teams in the West who deserves to get in?
Here is my list...
Booker
CP3
Draymond Green
Mitchell
Gobert
Luka
KAT
Can make a case for AD because of his numbers, but Lakers are sitting in 9th at 24-27, plus he's missed a lot of time. One of these guys has to be out for me to see Ayton or Bridges make it in, but even then I could see AD being the injury replacement.
As in he's the one to be replaced because he is/going to be injured?
Caved and had a look at the final fan votes, not that it's a great indication of how coaches would vote but it should give us a list to choose from.
WC Starters:
1. Lebron
2. Jokic
3. Wiggins
4. Steph
5. Morant
Reserves (my guess):
6. Luka
7. Book
8. CP3
9. Mitchell
10. Draymond
11. KAT
12. Ayton/Gobert
WC front court fan voting list:
1. Lebron (starter)
2. Jokic (starter)
3. Wiggins (starter)
4. Paul George (injured)
5. AD (who knows)
6. Draymond (probably get in)
7. Carmelo (No chance)
8. KAT (probably get in)
9. Gobert (50/50 on this one)
10. Ayton
WC back court fan voting list:
1. Steph (starter)
2. Morant (starter)
3. Luka (In)
4. Klay (wild card chance)
5. Book (In)
6. Westbrook (wild card chance)
7. CP3 (In)
8. Mitchell (probably get in)
9. Dame (injured)
10. Monk (even bigger travesty if he makes it any AD/Westbrook don't)
Potential wild cards:
- KP
- Desmond Banes
- JJJr
- Anthony Edwards
- Bogdanovic
- Dejounte Murry
- Ingram
- JV
- SGA
I think Gobert is for sure higher than Towns...by a bit...with coaches. He was way higher with players I think (like 3rd to 7th) and media by quite a bit I'm sure. Also on a good team.
Yeah you're right. Just had a look at Gobert's stats and he's having one of his best seasons of his career.

If he had played more games, I think he has a chance, or possibly anyway. I don't think he, Gobert or Towns make it, but if either don't or sit out, I think Ayton would possibly be injury replacement, though of course this is up to Silver.
I think Bridges could have a decent chance. I am quite sure coaches value what he brings a great deal.
AD will have the games played issue too, but he's played 2 more games than Ayton. Good chance he sits if he does get selected though given they are slowly bringing him back.
Gobert out too right now. Not sure how serious, and he once cried for not making all star teams so who knows about him?
I totally agree that Bridges has a better shot than people might realize. The F position is riddled with injuries and he's very well respected by coaches. Would be awesome if he does get in.

I knew Ayton missed a bunch of games but I didn't realise he's only played 28 of the 49 games so far. Just a bunch of stop starts. He's only had one stretch this season where he's played 12 straight games and just a bunch of 5-6 game stretches. Bit disappointing for sure but the key is to get him healthy for the playoffs.
I can't see Bridges as an all-star. He just doesn't have the numbers imo. And the fact that he's taken a step back offensively this year and they generally don't give all-star spots to defense first players is more reason he won't get in.

Yeh, sad for my aussie joe. At least he got us that olympic bronze. Not sure how he comes back from this as he's pretty old and slow alreadyc, but he was a massive piece for that jazz team. Hurts their chances.

Bridges is still mainly known as a defensive player. I'm not sure we're at a point where he will get in over somebody like Edwards.

Yep - that was a damn shame for Ingles and the Jazz
Kind of puts the Jazz in a bind as how do you replace Ingles
I saw on Twitter somebody suggested Marcus Morris for Ingles. For the Clippers, if George has the surgery, it might make sense.
I also saw this trade somewhere
Morris, Bledsoe and Ibaka for John Wall
If the Clippers offer that - the Rockets should take it and run
maybe flip Marcus Morris to the Cavaliers for Rubio and they would clear a bunch of cap

It's accurate
For the Suns:
1. Booker - 42.4
2. Ayton - 42.6%
3. McGee - 42.9%
4. Crowder - 44.0%
5. Bridges - 46.8%
If we removed the min 10 DFGA
1. Smith - 41.4%
2. Shamet - 41.6%
3. Payton - 42.3%
4. Booker - 42.4
5. Ayton - 42.6%
6. McGee - 42.9%
7. Crowder - 44.0%
8. Ish - 44.1%
9. CamJo - 45.0%
10. CP3 - 46.4%
11. Bridges - 46.8%
12. Cam Payne - 47.3%
Is Shamet a Draymond Green level defender? Probably not but the stats are there

Probably because he guards the best players every night.
I think when it is measured by avg overall FG% of guy Bridges is defending minus his the opponent's FG% when Bridges is defending him, he ranks really high, and is level of difficulty in who he is defending is #1 or close to it.
You think Bagley is the #2 defender or perhaps he is stuck on the worst opposing player? Thybulle only starts about half the time so he is often going against reserves as well.
Only a few guys have a high level of matchup difficulty, and on that list, LeBron has the lowest.

Looks like Mikal is at 46.8 DFG%, actually pretty far down this list surprisingly. Previously i thought people just don't attempt many shots against him but that's not the case.

actually, also surprisingly, Mikal's opponents tend to shoot better when guarded by him than usual.

Ayton's is good considering he guards bigs as well.
A lot of those guys primarily stand and guard 3 pt shooters, which, by default, are going to shoot worse. Bridges, for example, chases guys around a lot and guards a lot of guys who drive to the rim. That's Cam's role in the second unit. Bridges will take the toughest defensive assignment (or sometimes Ayton if it's a bigger guy), followed by Crowder (or Cam when he starts and of the bench unit).
Paul will guard a lot of guys who drive to the rim. Book will usually guard a shooter at the 3 pt line, though he sometimes ends up on a tougher guy to defend and has done a better job. But they want him exerting less on defense than others if possible (I mean, they want him to play tough D but he will usually be on a floor spreader).

Don't have access to the match up analytics but I would assume Bridges is near the top this season. Would be good if you have something more updated (e.g in a tweet somewhere)

Yeah, I was really surprised about Bagley the most honestly. I wasn't sure he was really good at anything.......
Impressed by both Smith and Shamet though. Although they say great defense is mostly about effort really. And both Smith and Shamet do really dig in on that end! Also, I have to say that I'm really impressed by Books' defensive improvement and dedication on that end. By the way, IF Ish is already playing comparable defense to Crowder. And is improving his three-point shooting whilst similarly strong, Should he be considered a viable eventual replacement to Crowder in a similar role?

Yes he is, 3rd. And even considering that he is 1st in defensive impact and there is the same separation between 1st and 2nd and there is between 2nd and 13th. I was thinking this was a measure of difference in opponent FG% vs their average FG% (so I may have misspoke above), but it isn't that simple.

DFG% isn't a great stat. It's a little better for bigs but even with them there's a lot of make/miss luck and tracking can get weird.
Plus the best D is when you guard a guy so well he doesn't get the ball or a shot up.

ACL tear for Joe.
Bad news and puts the Jazz in a bad place especially about the rumors of Donovan Mitchell wanting to leave for NY.
Time to blow it up?

Mitchell getting traded to the East could well mean Booker never gets snubbed for all-star again.

I wouldn't take the entire Knicks roster for Mitchell if I were the Jazz.
