Idea is combine that with sending Clarkson into the New Orleans TPE and get under the tax if the team can't find any upgrades.

Kemba would probably work, other ideas?

Maybe something where they send Ingles to OKC and BOS send Schroeder to Utah?

POR get Ingles+Hart
Get under tax and save money in future seasons while getting a starting SF.

UTA get Graham+Temple
Get out of Ingles+Clarkson while bringing in a backup guard that can defend and a backup SG.

NOP get Clarkson+CJ
NOP get more shooting. They can start CJ as a PG and either BI or Clarkson at SG.

Terrible for Utah. Graham is the opposite of what we need and Temple is old and on a long contract. I'd rather let Ingles expire.

Yes, I think this is probably the most logical answer of what may happen. I'll throw Delon Wright and Dennis Schroder in the mix, neither of their respective teams seem to value them (I can't stand Dennis, but whatever, we could probably use him).

This doesn't fit what you asked but would Utah be interested in Ingles and Clarkson for Dinwiddie & Bertans?

No. That's two horrid contracts and two terrible fits.

Small thing, but Ingles being injured after the 15th means we can't get a DPE.

I think going forward if the play-in tournament stays, the deadline is going to lose a lot of luster.

But maybe I eat a ton of crow in 9 days. Time will tell.

I think if everyone feels that way it makes sense for some team in the 5-10 range in terms of title odds to zag and offer an extra pick for a Jerami Grant or Brunson level guy.

Except guys on that level don't affect the math enough to be worth an extra pick. Unless you're talking about 2nds, in which DET or DAL aren't biting because it's not juicy enough.

I don't even think Dallas is a seller, they need to buy a guy to go with Doncic.

Eh, you gotta go for it at some point. Gobert is 29. Butler is 32 and Lowry about to turn 36. Both teams are less likely to win the title than Phoenix, Milwaukee, Golden State or Brooklyn. Making a move to get into that tier makes sense even if it costs you picks.

Small inconvenience . I don’t have Utah using that DPE in any ways . You guys seems set to avoid the tax.

Any chance ingles is dumped ?

I think it will be hard for us to avoid the tax unless we can incentivize OKC or NOP to take some of our middle contracts. I do think there is a chance Ingles is dumped, but it might be smaller than people think. I wouldn't be surprised if we hold on to him, and them sign him to the minimum to see if he can't come back one more season.

POR Out: Lillard, McCollum
POR In: Maxey, Thybulle, THT, Muscala, Harris, Favors, LA 27’, 2x 1sts from PHI, 4x 1sts from OKC.
Portland accepts reality and clears the decks. Harris, Covington, Nurk & possibly Powell are moved in follow up moves which i’m happy to hypothesize if anyone cares. Favors bought out. Build around Simons, Maxey, Thybulle + a treasure chest of picks and if THT & Muscala stick so much the better.

LAL out: Nunn, Ariza, THT, Jordan, Ellington, Bazemore, doumbouya, 27’ 1st
LAL in: McCollum
LAL sends out their worthless vets and a good pick and get some extremely needed spacing. Huge risk but Lebron only lasts so long.

PHI out: Harris, Simmons, Maxey, Thybulle, 2x 1sts
PHI In: Lillard, Nunn, Ariza
PHI gets Lillard and moves Harris’ contract. What else to say.

OKC out: Favors, Muscala, 4x 1sts
OKC in: Ben Simmons, bazemore, doumbouya, Jordan, Ellington
OKC cashes in and cuts the vets to build around SGA-Dort-Giddey-Simmons.

Terrible for POR.

Not a single top end end player, prospect or pick.

And LAL gets CJ for their trash assets somehow.

DOA

Well for POR I did not specify but of the OKC picks I had in mind would be at least two premium picks from the OKC & HOU pool in the next 1-2 years. Not sure if you can get better picks than that. Plus two more 1sts that you hope to negotiate into the lottery. The LAL 27’ also looks promising but of course you never know that far out. The Philly ones probably aren’t anything special but 1sts are 1sts.

I would argue Maxey & Thybulle are both above average prospects and I don’t remember any star trade in recent memory that landed a superior prospect outside of maybe a 27yo AD landing Ingram. I don’t have Lillard getting AD value at 31 & injured. THT & Muscala are flyers. Harris/Favors are really just cap filler and possible follow up trades for minor capital.

McCollum is worth more probably at his peak value but coming off injury, age & contract size It would seem he’s not there. I don’t have that price as selling low but definitely would not be selling at the top either I grant you.

As I said though, just bored and playing off rumors. No skin off my back if it is actually a trash proposal.

C'mon now, its too late in the season for Portland to blatantly tank and get themselves a top 3 pick in the 2022 draft.
For one thing, why would they need Maxey when they have Simons?

Fair on the tank side although they are only 7 games out of being bottom 3. Not exactly impossible to tank your way to bottom 3-4 in 31 games remaining. Top 4 have very little odds difference and if you can get OKC's pick then there's major potential to land multiple impact players. Especially if they made some follow up moves for their other vets.

As for Simons I thought of him more as a combo guard or pure SG while Maxey is more of a traditional PG. Between Lillard, McCollum, Simons & Powell it's not like the blazers have exactly shied away from giving multiple short guards big minutes.

Who knows?

Celtics playing their best basketball of the season the last 12-15 games. They are not going to just give Richardson away. Josh Richardson is having a very nice season for the Celtics.

The front page article on Simmons says he's vaccinated, which is news at least to me. So Toronto, New York, and Brooklyn are possible destinations. Commence Siakam/Randle/Kyrie trade proposals.

This si the same Josh Richardson that stunk it up for the Mavs last year? He has positive value again?

Wouldn’t mind Richardson off the bench, but seems like such a middling target. Would prefer either a bigger move or trying to outright duck the tax while keeping the starters in place.

Yeah, apparently he showed up non vaxxed, but sometime since opening night got vaccinated.

It is news to me, and definitely would be viewed as a positive to the trade market, even if a very marginal one compared to everything else Ben Simmons.
