Christian Braun

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Tue Jan 28, 2020 8:54 pm

He's been on my small sample size stats radar for most of the season and now he's starting and playing well. Looks like a lights out shooter and can shoot off the bounce. With his size and skillset I'm kinda getting some Kevin Huerter vibes, but he's already more physically developed (don't let the babyface fool you) than Huerter at that age. Looks like he has a very strong lower body.

he's interesting for sure, more of a 21 or 22 guy but he's on my radar.

He can shoot, but he's a very simple shooter. Doesn't make a complicated shot, also isn't a great off-ball movement guys like a Kennard or Huerter. Like he's fine, don't think he's good enough to deserve his own thread.

LMAO we've had much much worse prospects with their own threads, many of whom I'm sure were started by you.

What do people think 2 years later? Not as good of a shooter as I was hoping, but he's better in other areas too. Feel like he could go anywhere from the 20s on.

i'm a pretty big fan of braun, but i don't see him going first round. having said that, i think he's better at the same stage than, say, grayson allen was and allen was a 1st round pick and has outplayed his draft position.

so based on that comp alone, you can argue he's a first rounder - i just don't see it happening unless he blows up in the dance or something.

allen has been successful because he got an opportunity to play, he's good enough defensively to stay on the floor, he's athletic and he makes threes.

braun has similar size and athleticism - so if he gets a chance to play and can make threes, he can stick in a rotation.

I think that in the later part of the first round teams will give him a hard look. He’s more likely to live up to that contract as a roleplayer than a lot of other guys mocked in that range this year.

His shot selection is annoying (not enough 3's and he turns down open ones sometimes).

Good athlete. Plays with a nice temperament.

I think he's draftable already but if he could put together a better shooting season then he'd be first round worthy. Might behoove him to stick around one more year to do that. He'll be the top option after Agbaji departs.

Allen's college career was bizarre.

Had an elite sophomore season (why on earth didn't he declare?) that was far better than what Braun is doing. But then Allen declined and tapered off for his remaining Duke career.

Allen started getting real 1st round talk after he blew the combine up, different story, some people started looking at him much more than some senior glue guy type

He will go late R1 to a good team and become a limited but valuable role player that outplays his draft position IMO.

Interesting, Braun to Denver at 20. Haven't seen him this high in a mock yet.

Little stiff, average athlete, moderately skilled. Late 2nd with a chance to bounce around the league for a handful of years unless he makes a major leap

Braun to me has earned a spot in the late 1st with his finishing ability. He is a plus athlete (probably average for the NBA), but his rim finishing is the draw for me. Can he become a more consistent 3 pt shooter? I think so.

i think you see braun measure about a 38-40" vertical at the combine. he's an above average run/jump athlete.
